The soft clank of heels echoed down the corridor of the Volturi mansion. Kaelyn Elks, a guard and tracker for the Volturi Coven, was making her way to no where in particular. She had grown bored of her bedroom and was seeking some sort of excitement. The coven was dwindling in numbers nowadays and she knew it had something to do with the new leaders. There was nothing wrong with them, but some people just didn’t like change. Kaelyn wasn’t one of those people. The vampire openly accepted changed and looked at it as an opportunity for her advantage. And that was just what this was. With new leaders, she knew she was one step closer to working her way up. As long as she stayed faithful to them, she knew it wouldn’t be too difficult. She had to keep her distance from Marionette though. Transferring her ability to control electricity could be quite the turnover for the Volturi coven. Perhaps that would be how she would try to overthrow them; she didn’t know. For now, she was just focused on becoming close to the three of them: Marionette, Hayden, and Lucius. Though, lately her eye had taken a liking to Lucius. He was, after all, the next highest she could go: third in command. It would be a start.
But that wasn’t her intention today. Today she wanted to get out from the castle walls and take adventure into Volterra. It was a warm, spring night and she wanted to spend it away from her vampire life. Gripping on to any hope of her humanity, she knew just the place.
With her Volturi coven robe whipping in the air behind her, she walked through the corridors with poise and elegance. It was something she had retained from her human life. Being around royalty had that effect. She was always proper in speaking and in her mannerisms. Even when she clung to darkness, she still managed to take the innocent and naïve approach. Of course, she was neither…but those of the outside world didn’t know that.
The Volturi coven necklace dangled around her neck as she opened the doors to the outside world. Immediately she felt the fresh, warm air hit her ice cold skin and it felt amazing. The warmth was the one thing she had missed from her human life. Feeling cold and frozen was no way for a woman to live. As much as she hated it, she knew a spark of romance was what was missing from her life; a man to be around and spend her non-existence with. She knew it would lessen the pain, but she just hadn’t found the right one.
Brushing the thought aside, Kaelyn quickly made her way through the streets of Volterra. They were relatively vacant, which she was thankful for. The last thing she wanted was someone asking questions. It was only a few moments before she came to a beautiful garden of flowers in a field just inside the wooded area. She had discovered this place a few years ago, and came here whenever the vampire life just didn’t suite her. Tonight was one of those nights. As her eyes gazed over the dozens of types of flowers, she smiled to herself. Somehow or another, she had held on to this part of her human life…her love for flowers and Mother Nature. Blood-red eyes lifted to the sky, illuminated by an ivory full moon…sparkling stars surrounding its beauty. In that moment, Kaelyn finally found the peace she had been longing for.

Lucius was quite bored, to be honest.
The night offered him a chance to get away from the life of a leader and an endless plotter for his own greed and simply take a step back and enjoy the simple things. He'd fed recently which meant he wasn't likely to want to hunt tonight, though the itch was still there.
He still wore his trademark sunglasses and the slicked back hair but his long trench coat was gone, replaced by a simply black undersuit and a jacket upon that. He'd never be caught outside of formal clothes he'd be willing to fight in unless the occasion willed his attention and he found it special enough to do so.
His eyes narrowed as he caught site of someone within a field of flowers, a rather nice one if he did say so himself. His eyes flickered over to her and he walked over purposefully, no longer a leader, but still clearly commanding respect. Another thing he'd never be caught dead not doing.
"Enjoying the view?" He asked smoothly, standing a respectful distance away from her "It is truly a beautiful evening is it not?"

As the wind blew, Kaelyn inhaled deeply. The scents of dozens of flowers filled her lungs and she smiled to no one in particular. It was a sight of beauty. Under the moon’s light, everything was blanketed in shimmering silver and for a single moment, she realized just how much she missed her human life. She had everything going for her as a Lady of Germany…powers, beauty, loyalty. Not to say that wasn’t much the case now, but something just didn’t seem heartwarming about where she was. Sure, she could blame part of it on not having a love, but she knew that wasn’t all. This wouldn’t have been the life she’d have chosen if given a choice. But, there was no choice. She had simply been changed days before her coronation…and then had murdered her entire family. The thought pained her, but she brushed it away…catching someone’s scent in the flowing wind.
It didn’t take her long to recognize it. She was around it practically all day…a scent she was rather getting used to. Turning her head slightly, she heard the near silent rustling of his feet against the meadow’s grass. It was only when he began to speak that she let her eyes gaze upon him. His words were different than what she was accustomed too. Not commanding or filled with a shadow of darkness. They were normal…almost human.
As he grew closer, she nodded her head in respect to him. She hated feeling inferior, but there were three leaders that she was in debt to. They had agreed to take her under their wing and for that she was grateful. It was under those respects that she knew her place when speaking to them.
She nodded a bit at his question of the view. “It is unlike me to enjoy such things, but it’s a part of my human life I still cling to.” Her voice was soft, almost angelic. The statement was true. In essence, Kaelyn was evil. She longed for power and destruction, yet the simple fragrance of a flower seemed to draw her liking. “Spring and summer: the warmest nights of the year.” A smile fell over her lips at the thought. “It’s gorgeous…” She added, gazing out once more on the scenery. That was one thing she was thankful for. At least Italy had a few beautiful areas of nature.
Her golden hair was tousled gently by the wind as she returned her attention to the third in command. “What brings you out from behind the castle walls on such a night?” She asked, only having spoken to the man a handful of times. They both knew who each other were, but neither had been given the time of day to interact on a more personal level. Everything lately was business and politics. Kaelyn had to admit, it felt nice to leave that life for a night. The vampire world was quiet, leaving the Volturi with little to do.
