mari sighed, settling herself into the chair in the dining room. she leaned back a bit, her gaze moving over every portion of the room. it was lightened by only candles at this very moment, and marionette basked in the faint glow. unfortunately, the sun wasn't out this fine day. and today there was nothing more that she wanted to do than find a secluded place to stand in the sun. she loved the warm feeling. other vampires hated the fact that they sparkled. they said it drove them to near insanity. well, it didn't bother this volturi, and she was happy with who she was. she adored the vampire lifestyle, and a few grumpy people weren't going to bring her down. not now at least. not when she was now a leader of the volturi.
thus, marionette rose from her seat. she glanced toward the door for a few seconds before beginning to trek toward it. she stepped over the threshold and down to her room. she hunted her room for her cloak, which she'd misplaced for some reason. after grabbing the soft pile of fabric she pulled it on over her short, black dress. she kept one shoulder of the cloak behind her, so that only half of it covered her body. she then headed from her room and down the hallway. not many volturi were here today. they were all on various missions. as marionette passed one of the random rooms they had here, she paused. she the sun still wasn't out, so there was no problem there.
she stepped down the hall and out into the streets of volterra. her black eyes made it a lot easier to walk around in the streets during the day. but thirst gripped her throat, and she simply decided that it was a hunting night. she stalked to the out rim if the city, and found a nice bench for her to sit on. she plopped down, closing her eyes for a few moments. who would come along her path today? she couldn't wait to find out.

Lucius didn't much like the city.
Any city actually, he found it much too cramped for his tastes. He strode down the street, boots clacking on the concrete and his trench coat billowing out behind him. He certainly looked imposing; the slicked back blonde hair and sunglasses added to the effect but also helped hide his eyes.
The vampire sensed another nearby, and he knew instinctively who it'd be.
"Ah, the pest." He whispered quietly to himself, grunting. Marionette was the only one who dared make a fool out of him, but even then not in public. And yet, he found himself liking their relationship. Everyone needed a rival to keep them on their toes now and again, didn't they?
He rounded the corner and stared at her, hidden under the cloak as she was. The sun wasn't strong enough to light him up like a christmas tree, and certainly he didn't need the attention. Not that it'd be an issue to deal with, simply he didn't need it. He was a ruler, after all.
And yet, so was she. Holding back a grimace of pure distain he stood facing her on the bench, arms folded across his black coated chest.
"Do you never stop, Marionette? Certainly you must have no duties for I see you outside more than I do in your chambers or upon your throne." He said simply and plainly, as was his way. He smirked slightly, to show that the remark wasn't all hostility, but there was certainly an edge there. "If you cannot handle your duty I would quite gladly take your place."

Mari was looking up toward the sky when Lucius turned the corner. She closed her eyes and let out a soft sigh. Her gaze swept over to him, looking him up and down for a few moments. She narrowed her eyes at him, irritation sparking on her features. "I guess it's simply because I so not care for being trapped indoors. Do not fret, dear one, I shall be heading back soon. I simply wished to take a stroll. My throne isn't my favorite place to sit. I'm also keeping watch for any rogue vampires who think they can play carelessly with their abilities. I'm not a lazy mule that you can insult." her voice held a certain level of bite to it. She stood abruptly, stepping close to him. "I'm in no mood to deal with your petty irritations."
Mari let her hood fall, her blonde hair framing her beautiful face. Her eyes were black as night. Her prime source of irritation was the fact that she hadn't fed in a while. She hissed low at him, passing him with a few quick strides. She glared ahead, some truth coming from the saying 'If looks could kill...'. She glances about, looking fir any human who could possibly become her next victim. To her every race of humans had a different taste. She preferred her own kind of blood. Russian. The thought made her mind whirl with desire. She was ready to hunt. She was ready to hunt now.

Lucius chuckled at her rather crude reaction. It was nice to assert that he would not always be the butt of her jokes and that he was certainly capable of holding his own against her even on such a petty level. He didn't reply to her statements because he had only been looking for a reaction.
He could almost feel her revulsion as she stepped past him and he gave a smirk before turning after her. Clearly she was thirsty, and now he had his mind on it, so was he. It was a minor annoyance, but Lucius certainly couldn't deny he enjoyed hunting.
"If you wish to find a target." He said, stepping up beside her with a casual stride "Might I advise the main square? There is a festivity of some sort. A marriage I believe, and that would be the best place to find a meal."
He chuckled slightly, adjusting his glasses and pursing his lips from a moment in thought. Many assumed Lucius hated Marionette and that was far from the truth. She was annoying and a thorn in his side - and plans - but he enjoyed her company at times and the banter they shared. Naturally he wished for her position, but then he wished to rule the whole Voltori, did he not?
"You do not mind company, do you? I am feeling thirsty myself." He stated a little more than asked, flexing himself. He preferred a chase to a straight up meal, but he'd take whatever he could get.

she glanced back at him, her eyes cold for a few moments. she then gave a sweet smile and nodded. "i would enjoy some company. but you must behave yourself. we can't draw too much attention to ourselves today. it seems some people are already on high alert." she noted calmly, glancing from side to side. her step was graceful and smooth. she made not attempt to hide the fact. humans were pitiful creatures, and as much as she hated them, she didn't want to alarm them to the fact that there were more dangerous beings out there than the humans themselves. she wanted to toy with them, make them scared. make them terrified.
she chuckled to herself, her mind whirling over the kill she would soon make. she would desperately search for a russian meal, but it she could not find one, she'd search for a latvian maybe. they both tasted similar. they were both of a russian blood line. she glanced about, searching the scents of blood that were on the wind. it was warm today, and every scent seemed to draw marionette closer and closer toward them. she ignored the pooling venom in her mouth, and continued to search. she paused for a few moments, focusing her senses.
she cast them out, picking between different scents of blood. she froze when the scent she was looking for hit her tongue. she grinned, her face showing some cunning properties. "on second thought...i've found the one i want...and i want to toy with my food..." she mused, following the scent she wanted. she wasn't in too much of a hurry. the man didn't seem to be on the move, so she took her time, enjoying the warmth in the air. none of the other scents appealed to her anymore. she wanted only one.
