It was a semi sunny day in Forks, breaking the chain of rainy and cloudy days the small town is known for. Dahlia didn't visit Forks much but this time it was for a reason. The carnival was coming into town next week and the deadline for tickets was today. Although it wouldn't be the same set of people and environment she grew up with in the circus she still loved the excitement the carnival brought when ever it was in town, reminding her of the golden days that she dearly missed. The lights, the sounds of the crowd and the excitement in their claps and ahh's whenever a performer did something amazing, it all made her feel more comfortable and at home. The thought of being back home, although the people are different the atmosphere is the same, it excited her to the point she couldn't sleep a wink the night before and had been impatiently waiting until the evening. Feeling too antsy to wait she hurried out the door and headed out of her suite in Seattle and towards Forks.
Once she got there she parked her rental car and locked it up, not wanting to come out after having fun to a empty parking space. As she approached the line she saw it was a bit longer then she had expected. Carnivals were so popular these days that even during the last days they still were packed with crowds of people. Thankfully behind the fence she could see there weren't many people in there at the moment and waited patiently at the end of the line. After a half an hour of standing in line it was finally her turn. She was so excited about the carnival she didn't even check to see if she had the right change and when she went to pull the money out for the ticket she came up a bit short. The people in line behind her were starting to get irritated and she knew she just had to deal with not going to the carnival this year. It would have been a first but Dahlia had no other choice. She made a mistake and now had to pay for it by returning to the hotel suite. Disappointed she put her money back in her purse and was about to leave the line when someone unexpectedly stepped in.

After many hours on the road Dante decided he needed a break from driving and find a way to relax. And thus he parked his car and entered a small coffee shop in downtown Forks. While inside he heard a young couple talking about going to the carnival tonight. As he drank a cup of coffee and read a newspaper he listened in on it and decided perhaps a carnival would be a little fun. He finished his cup and paid before walking out and going to locate the place of said carnival. It wasn't hard to find it, then again one couldn't miss a giant Ferris Wheel in the town either.
The ridiculously long line should have made him reconsider but he didn't and he stood in line for the insane amount of time. finally he was only a few people back and he waited patiently as a woman sorted through her things to pull out her money. The disappointed look on her face as she put her money away told him she didn't have enough and he quickly stepped out of line and walked up. The people who had been in front of him seemed mad that he stepped out of line but he didn't pay attention to him as he smiled at the girl who had been trying to purchase a ticket. "I've got you covered." he said softly as he pulled his wallet out of his back pocket and pulled out enough money to buy two tickets. He handed it to the person working the booth and took the two tickets from her.
He stepped away from it and handed the woman her ticket. "There you go. You really seemed like you wanted to go and I couldn't let you walk away with out going." he smiled at her. "Be sure to have a good time in there." he continued.

"I've got you covered." She didn't say anything when he pulled out the money and paid for her ticket although she wanted to stop him. She didn't want someone taking care of her but she was grateful and wouldn't fight him on it. When he handed her her ticket she looked down at it and smiled, a bit relieved to have it in her hands now. Her eyes moved up to rest on his face and a small smile spread across her's. "Thanks. You really didn't have to but I appreciate it." Now she would forever be grateful to him. Although it seemed like nothing to him to her it was a big deal. Dahlia didn't leave a good deed unnoticed, even if it was something as small as this. With kind gestures like these she liked to reward them with a suitable reward of some kind and would refuse to have it any other way. Not many strangers would come up and pay for your ticket, atleast not without wanting something in return. "There you go. You really seemed like you wanted to go and I couldn't let you walk away with out going." He was right, she did want to go in but she still had to think of a reward for him. She could give him money, yes but that seemed to have been her problem to begin with. "Be sure to have a good time in there." She looked him over and around him and noticed he was alone. He had bought a ticket for himself but was about to walk in by himself. That was when the light bulb went off in her head.
She took a small step closer to stop him from turning around and walking away before she got the chance to tell him her offer. "Wait. I can't thank you enough for this. Please, let me repay you some how. I don't see anyone here with you so why don't you let me join you inside? That is if you want the company. You look as if this is your first time and this is about my millionth...." she laughed slightly. "So maybe I can show you around....but if you prefer not I understand completely." she said, almost hoping he would say yes and join her.

Dante was about to turn and leave when she stepped close. He then thought for a moment about what she had said, sure he could go inside the carnival and see what fun he could have with games and rides. But what was the fun in doing things alone? Someone to show him around the carnival could be fun, he'd certainly have more fun this way if he had someone to talk to and perhaps show him where the fun in a carnival really was. "Sure, why not? I could always use the company. But only if you really want to hang out with a carnival virgin." He chuckled at how pathetic that sounded but he decided to just go with it and not let him embarrass himself too much tonight.
She seemed pretty sure about it and he smiled at her, "Let's go before too many people go in. We do want to have as much fun as possible after all, don't we?" he said as led her inside, he stopped inside the gates before looking back at her a curious look on his face. "So, since you know so much about carnivals and clearly I don't. Where should we start? " he looked around at all the games and rides before looking back at her. The smell of food making his mouth water. But there was something else that smelled off to him, it was sweet, much like a vampire but something was different about it though he couldn't place his hand on what it was. He had noticed it since he had stepped up to pay for her ticket. He then decided it must just be her perfume and dismissed it as he waited to hear what they would be doing first in this maze of carnival booths.

"Sure, why not? I could always use the company. But only if you really want to hang out with a carnival virgin." She couldn't help but smile and giggle, slightly excited that he had agreed to join her. She noticed he had made her laugh and that he had a nice smile, qualities she liked in people and from then on she knew they would have a great time together. "Let's go before too many people go in. We do want to have as much fun as possible after all, don't we?" She smiled and nodded before walking through the gates into the fun filled carnival with him. The area was filled with couples and families, not many people came to the carnival alone so it was a good thing they had met each other or they would have seemed like the odd ones. First she could see the various games they had along with a few food booths but the real excitement was towards the back. They didn't have as good of rides as most theme parks but for a carnival the small roller coaster didn't look too bad. Dahlia made sure to get on every ride atleast once every time she came here but now that she had company it was more about showing him the experience then entertaining herself.
"So, since you know so much about carnivals and I clearly don't. Where should we start?" It wasn't until they moved away from the long line at the ticket booth did a strange smell hit her nose. Before she thought she smelt wet dog but then it was quickly covered up by the smell of the large, greasy looking man behind her in line. But once she could no longer smell the gross man the odd smell of dog hit her nose once again, this time a bit stronger. She looked over at Dante for a moment but then turned away, her nostrils flared as she took in deep breaths of the smell. There were no dogs in sight, nor did she think that dogs were even allowed. It seemed to be stronger towards his direction and the more she thought about it she figured he must of had a pet at home. Dahlia's nose was super sensitive so it was possible that was what she was picking up on but she was still curious as to where it was coming from. "Do you smell....wet dog?" she asked him as she sniffed the air. "Sorry about that. My nose does this alot....anyways...what would you like to do first? We could play a game or we could go on a ride." she asked and rubbed her nose as it had started to itch from the smell.

"Do you smell....wet dog? Sorry about that. My nose does this alot....anyways...what would you like to do first? We could play a game or we could go on a ride."
Dante was so caught off guard that he chocked slightly, he frowned and looked down for a second as he tried to think of any reason she would have smelt that. the only ones that smelled that on him were vampires and by her blue eyes and high body temperature he could tell she wasn't on of them. The usual prickling feeling he got on the back of his neck when he was around a vampire wasn't happening either so it wasn't a trick. He racked his brain for a few seconds, trying to figure out how she could smell like a vampire and a human all at the same time. How she could have possibly smelled a dog smell on him. He had once heard about hybrids, but he didn't think it was really possible. And if it was, did he really want to know? He shook it off and looked back up at her with a small smile.
"Yeah, sorry about that... I have a soft spot for dogs and there was a stray one night and it was raining... I felt bad for him so I let him into my van... I guess he slept on my jacket or something. I just didn't notice it..." he muttered, though it wasn't entirely a lie, he did have a soft spot for dogs and would allow one into his van on rainy nights. Granted one wouldn't be allowed near the leather jacket his father had given him before he left for college. "If it bothers you we don't have to hang out tonight, I totally get it. I guess that smell can get irritating, I really am sorry for it... Perhaps I should make sure everything it all cleaned up before I go out..." he chuckled and sighed. He hoped she would take that excuse and it wouldn't be brought up again if she decided to continue to talk to him anymore tonight, he wouldn't have blamed her.
"We can do whatever you want if you don't feel like leaving after that smell... I wouldn't blame you...." he muttered softly as he looked down at his feet a small fant pink to his cheeks.

"Yeah, sorry about that... I have a soft spot for dogs and there was a stray one night and it was raining... I felt bad for him so I let him into my van... I guess he slept on my jacket or something. I just didn't notice it..." She smiled at this and let out a soft aw. The fact that he would do that for a stray animal showed he had a nurturing and caring side, something you don't see too often in men. Although he looked to be a little embarrassed she didn't mind it at all. "If it bothers you we don't have to hang out tonight, I totally get it. I guess that smell can get irritating, I really am sorry for it... Perhaps I should make sure everything it all cleaned up before I go out...We can do whatever you want if you don't feel like leaving after that smell... I wouldn't blame you...." She slightly jumped up and shook her head. "Oh no it doesn't bother me at all. I've been around all sorts of animals and dogs are defiantly not the worst smelling." she chuckled, telling the truth as she was also trying to lighten the mood. But she couldn't help but blush herself at the sight of his pink cheeks and awkward smile.
"We can do whatever you want if you don't feel like leaving after that smell... I wouldn't blame you...." She lightly bit her bottom lip purely out of habit and smiled. "No I'm staying right here. Why would I leave? Don't mind me, my nose is just super sensitive....it's always been that way. As a matter of fact I don't even smell it that much anymore....not with the funnel cakes over powering it." she giggled and looked around, thinking for a moment on what they should do first. Then her eyes settled on the roller coaster once again and she suddenly felt drawn to it. She lightly tapped on his arm as she kept her eyes on the ride. "Hey....we should go on there first. You look like you need some excitement in your life and maybe it'll air out your jacket some." she teased him slightly.

Dante smiled slightly, he wasn't used to people wanting to be around him and this was certainly a change. "Well, if you are entirely positive that the smell doesn't completely repulse you then the roller coaster it is then." He said before he turned and walked towards the line for the coaster, he sighed at how long the line was as they got into it. He pushed the sleeve of his jacket up and looked at his watch before looking back at her. "Well, this might take awhile. Then again we have plenty of time. I'm sure it'll pass quickly" he said, the smile stayed on his face, "Unless you have some weird pull over people working the roller coaster." he chuckled lightly.
Even though he was happy she brushed off his wet dog smell he couldn't help but worry. Unless he got angry tonight there was no way for him to shift and his usual calm demeanor often made that difficult, and he always tried to remain a gentleman around women so he never let his anger get the best of him. But nevertheless he was still worried that perhaps she did know what he was. Maybe she really was the one of the mysterious hybrids he had heard about but never seen. Was that even physically possible? A vampire having sex with a human. that sounded almost as dangerous as a werewolf being with a human intimately. He decided he was putting too much thought into this and that he should probably let it go, he shouldn't really concern himself with others personal business anyway. He looked at the grounded and waited patiently for the line to move forward.

"Well, if you are entirely positive that the smell doesn't completely repulse you then the roller coaster it is then." She smiled and shook her head. The smell really didn't bother her and the last thing she wanted to do was spend the evening alone when she had just met a possible friend. Then again everyone Dahlia meet's ends up being a friend to her. She has always been a people person and some what of a simple person. It doesn't take much to make her happy and this case wasn't so different. As they approached the line however her smile faded as she saw the amount of people waiting for the ride. She didn't mind waiting but then again she also didn't want to waste the night away on just one ride. "Well, this might take awhile. Then again we have plenty of time. I'm sure it'll pass quickly. Unless you have some weird pull over people working the roller coaster." She looked over at him and laughed silently. "No....but if this was a circus then I'd be able to get us the best seats in the house." she said with a half smile and looked at the front of the line. Just as her eyes settled there she saw a young kid being turned down to ride due to his height. He seemed to be alone and just as sad about this as Dahlia was when she thought she wouldn't be able to attend the carnival. Not wanting this child to leave the carnival unhappy she quickly made her way up the line and to the boy and the worker.
She conversed with the man and agreed that she would ride with him if he let him on. At first hesitant it didn't take long for Dahlia to convince the man to let him on, making the little boy very happy. With a smile she looked back to Dante in the back and waved her hand for him to join her. Once he was close enough she turned to face him with her arm around the excited little boy. "Hey, I hope you don't mind but this little man will be riding with us on the coaster." she said, making the boy look up at her with a smile. "They wouldn't let him on without someone to ride with him and I figured the two of us could help him out. We can go right in, no more waiting in line." she said with a small amount of excitement in her voice as she looked down at the boy then back up at Dante with a smile.
