In-depth Analysis
Personality: Blunt – When it comes down to it, Olivia is extremely straight forward. It's her greatest asset but also the biggest trouble starter. It may seem harsh to other people, but to Olivia is the honest truth. And she believes in the saying “The truth hurts.” Most of the time she really doesn't realize how rude or blunt she is. And personally she doesn't care. She doesn't care about your feelings or what you want. You are just a fly on the wall to her.
Sarcastic – Even in the worsts of moments, she has found herself saying a sarcastic remark. She can't help it. It's what she does best. That trait was the one thing that helped her survive all those years. The era at the time was harsh and cruel. And she had to grow a custom to that. Her heart was cold and hallow. She had no care for anyone and absolutely no remorse. So don't think that you can strike a deal with her and survive.
Sadistic – When her mind is set to something, it's very hard to change it. Just like her father, she doesn't like to be told what to do. Her first word was No. Olivia is very determined at anything she sets her mind to. If there is a certain 'meal' she wants she would stalk them and wait until they were at their most vulerable. She would make sure she knew everything she could know about the vitim and use it at her advantage. Torture was her game. And you didn't make her happy until you were crying out for your mama.
Manipulative – With the power she has, she has no problem getting people to do what she wanted. Most of the time she doesn't even need to touch them to lure them to their deaths. Batting her eyes, talking with that cute southern accent, and not to mention her clothes revealed a lot of her, it wasn't hard for the former saloon girl to grab your attention. Also she was a vampire an therefore inherited their extreme beauty status. This did please her as she found it very useful when finding dinner.
Detailed history: Olivia Raven Thorne was born in 1839 to Liam Thorne and Idrissa. Her mother was from West Africa but was of mixed heritage. Half African, half Native American. Making her lighter than others. She had soft caramel skin that never aged or grew wrinkles. Long, dark hair ran down the length of her back to her tail bone. She was petite and gentle. Always positive and giving. She was a paid housemaid to a middle class family in New Orleans. The family was kind enough to take her in as a person and not just a piece of property. She was almost like family, watching and teaching the kids, she was even close with the lady of the house. But she still knew her place. She also was considered, to the poor, middle and rich classes, to be the best Voudon (West African version of Voodoo) Queen in New Orlean's at the time. Traditional cures and rituals consisted of wishing for luck, cure an illness, or even revenge. She also could hold spiritual seances and perform exorcism's. In 1830, at the age of 21 she one day met a young, red haired handsome man named Liam Thorne. He was a finance associate at the Second Bank of the United States. He had came on business for the owner of the house. There had to be some deposits made and such, but Idrissa didn't care about that boring stuff. He was charming and intellectual. He was even a gentleman, which was a good trait to have in the South. Liam had seemed to have taken an interest in her too. Making flirtacious moves he had no problem letting her know what he thought of her. This flattered her, making her cave in to go on an outing with him. That was the thing back then. Liam was from London, England originally but his mother was form Ireland. Giving him his red hair and straight-forward attitude. His father was a Duke in Wales, later moving closer to London. Liam and Idrissa soon fell in love and got married. The family Irdissa held it at their house and congratulated the commitment. After the wedding the newlyweds moved out of New Orleans and back to London. After a year their first born was a son, Breandan Theodore Thorne, in the early months of summer. He was the spitting image of his father. Breandan, as he grew up, would imitate his father and pretended to work at the bank for fun. He was very active, almost ADHD. Always into everything, there wasn't something he didn't break, burn, take apart, or just use it for target practice. When he would hit puberty, it would get worse. With his hot temper and unreasonable attitude he became too much to bear. He was only eight and was getting unreasonable with the other kids. The other mother's didn't want their kids to play with him, angering him more. Living in their small two story house in London was not the best place for him. Too many close neighbors and relatives. They feared they would disown them from the family because of his behavior. Sooner or later Liam would be promoted and transferred to the America's again. They were ecstatic, knowing that they could be closer to Idrissa's family, who could handle the situation better.
In January of 1838 they would move to New Orleans but not back into her family's house. In the contract of his promotion and relocation he would aquire a reasonable amount of land, 5 acres, and could construct a house. Thus the building for the Thornewood Mansion began. It was supposed to be finished within a year but production slowly decreased as the building went on. Accident's, deaths, and even a suicide plagued the workers. One by one they slowly went down, making Liam have to spend more money for more workers. The toll was getting rough for them, their funds dwindling quickly. Idrissa sensed an evil on the property. She was sensitive. She said so many spirits roamed the land, and not just the recently deceased workers. They were much older. When Idrissa told her grandfather, he revealed to her that the land they acquired was on an old Indian burial ground. They had already done more than half of the building so moving was not an option. Her grandfather blessed the land and the house so many times, but he can only do so much for the religion was not his. But something older in the land. In October of 1839 Olivia was born. Her facial features matched her mother but her blue eyes, red hair, and freckles were from her father. She was the white version of her mother you could say. She was a happy and playful baby, also slightly chubby weighing 8 lbs when born. She loved bright colors and loud music. She was a daddy's little girl and mothers little helper. You could say she was the complete opposite of her brother. A little angel. Her big smile and red bouncy curls would light up everyone's day. Finally when Olivia was 3, in 1842 the Thornewood Mansion was complete. It's red brick walls imitated a English Tudor mansion. 54 rooms, along with 22 bedrooms and baths, a personal pond, and a garden, this was Liam's pride. He delighted in bringing family and guest to show off is new house. Parties and gatherings were held in the high-ceiling, wood paneled Ballroom. The central stairs were made of dark wood and pictures lined the paneled walls. A crystal chandelier hung in the middle, glittering when the sun shone through the large window. Idrissa's grandfather moved in to watch and sometimes teach Olivia and Breandan. He would often get lost in the mansion but soon after started to remember. As Olivia and Breandan grew up, their grandfather taught them the ways of magic's and voodoo. The most unknown rituals and practices were also very dangerous. Breandan, at one point, almost set the house on fire with a flame spell but was caught in the act. Since then he was not taught anymore other than the normal math, english, etc. Olivia grew up to be a small, kind woman while her brother had been more rambunctious than her. Drinking, spending money on prostitutes and gambling, he was not easily trusted. He would get into bar fights, angrying the saloon owners and later his parents. Breandan was banned from all local saloons and stores, for the fear of him stealing or starting an argument with the workers and customers. Because of this the Thorne's reputation was dwindling. In 1856, when Olivia was 17, Idrissa grew ill with typhoid fever. It was devastating the local region, killing hundreds. By the end of the year she had lost the battle and died in her bed chamber. The whole family was devistated. She was only 47. Her father's depression worsened when the bank laid him off due to the banks situation at the time. He grew angry and started to drink heavily. Becoming abusive and unreasonable, Olivia had had enough. She confronted her father about it but it only ended in tragedy. The next morning Olivia found her father dead, in his office with a bottle in his hand, a gun on the floor, and a bloody hole in his head. The death of both her parents in such a short time changed her life. She became even quieter and self reserved. Keeping her distance, she rarely talked and if she did it was only for good reason. Her brother acted out in rage and hate and would often run away for weeks at a time. In 1860 she met a young man by the name of Michael Crawley. He was a local blacksmith that loved his work and his customers. Always a town favorite, Olivia took well to him quickly. He was a fair and kind man, but also tough enough to handle the hard work involved. He was American but had some British ancestry, noting the name. After a few dates they married within six months and he moved into Thornewood Mansion. Even though Breandon was the eldest son, making him the official heir, Olivia still resided in the semi-empty home. They were happily in love, they could finish each others sentences, and were inseparable. It was as if they were soul mates, and they truly were. They completed each other.
When the Civil War came, it frightened Olivia. She knew that Michael was a young and ready man, and feared he would be taken from her by the war. And she eventually was right. In 1861, at the beginning of the war, he was drafted and sent to fight for the Confederacy. Olivia pleaded for him to not go, that she could find a way to make him stay. But he was a better man than that. He loved his country and his hometown. He wanted to protect it and her at all costs. Even if it meant leaving for war. Once he was gone Olivia just roamed the house, waiting for his return. But it never came. She saw the one thing she feared the most. A man pulling up to the mansion and handing her a letter. He was killed in battle and his belongings would be returned to her. She was devastated. She had lost her mother, then her father and brother, and now her husband. She didn't know if she could live any longer. Shortly after, her reckless brother had happened to play a card game and gambled the deeds to they mansion. The thing he didn't count on was loosing. This angered Olivia and her grandfather who was now almost 100 and soon to die. Now she had no where to live other than the family that had once gave shelter to her late mother. She could return there with her grandfather but she didn't think she could handle the memories that were there. So she left, and said good-bye to New Orleans and hello to San Francisco. That would be the last time she ever saw her grandfather again. She figured with all the gold she could maybe find some and make a new life on her own. When she finally got there thing hadn't gone as she planned. She didn't realize how hard it was to live on her own. Olivia was forced to get a job as a saloon waitress, as she liked to call it. But the formal name would be 'lady of the night'. She was not proud of this and she knew her parents wouldn't be proud either. Her husband would be furious with her, but she had to make a living for herself. She had to eat and wear clothes. There were really no other jobs for females other than that. She did this for 2 years, lonely and unhappy. Until one day in the spring of 1863 her life changed for the last time. She had a new client one night. A tall, pale man with a dark coat to match his mysterious aura. He seemed dark and aloof, mainly his red eyes giving him away. He was cold and she could not feel his breath. He was quite odd, but Olivia had to make money. The man had specifically asked for her, which also added to the goosebumps on her arms. Once they got to the bedroom he grew closer to her. His voice was soothing and his skin ice cold. She turned to grab the condom, and he suddenly grabbed her arms from behind and bit her on the neck. She tried to scream but the blood was being sucked from her body with great force. The next thing she knew she passed out. When she finally gained consciousness she found herself in a dark, wood box. She started to panic. She was afraid and scared for her life. She had been buried alive, in her mind at least. What she didn't know that it had been 5 days and she was dead. Well...at least undead. With her surprising strength she clawed her way out and busted the coffin door. Pulling herself up she looked around her, realizing she was in the cemetery. And the man that was there the nights before was there. Her nervousness was getting stronger. She put her hand on her heart, but felt no heart beat. This made her panic even more. The smell of decaying bodies and flowers was strong and overwhelming. She could hear hooves in the distance, it sounded close but there wasn't a road anywhere near her. And she was very hungry, suddenly craving for blood. The man finally spoke and told her everything. Everything about who she was, what she could do, and why he did this to her. It had seemed that the man was a bit lonely. But no just for any girl. A girl who could hold herself, and someone with the ability to possess a great power. He claimed he had the ability to sense peoples potential, their futures. But he refused to give her his name. She didn't know if she should believe him but something inside her told her he was telling the truth. She walked towards him, lifting her hand to touch him, but he stepped back. He had told her that he did not want her touching him for when her skin touched another, she could tell them to do whatever she wanted and they would follow, no questions asked. He knew this from his visions, that's why he changed her. He wanted to use her. But at the time she didn't care. Nothing mattered anymore.
Her first year was the hardest. He warned her that her human blood was still running through her veins, that her thirst for blood would be strong. Instead of her baby blues, her eyes were a crimson red. She would be at her strongest too. She wasn't sure about all of this, but there was no turning back now. She thought about her family, her home in New Orleans. She could never see them again, not like this. Her grandfather would kill her, literally. He knew of vampires and their strengths and weaknesses. To him, Olivia would be no exception. So for the next year she kept to herself, only going out to feed. She had found an abandoned building and made it her home. The only person she talked to was the man who created her. She had a certain bond with him. He made her feel comfortable and at ease. But that would soon come to an end. He would eventually leave and abandon her. This was a hard blow on her. She had almost given up. She was tired of people leaving her. She found herself wandering aimlessly, not know where she was going. Until she came upon a campsite. She could hear laughter and voices talking and ranting. But they didn't smell human. Their blood was sweeter, almost like candy. She felt no heartbeats. Maybe they were like her. She slowly entered the camp and was quickly noticed. The whole camp took notice of her, starring at her with red eyes. They seemed to of known what she was and decided not to kill her. But instead take her in as their own and taught them their ways, only because they learned of what she could do. It was the woman named Maria that allowed this. . She had an alluring presence that had drawn her to the site. They told her of the Vampire Wars and how they were creating newborns for the fight. Olivia didn't really like the idea but she just went along with it. And in the process she met a man named Jasper. He had been with the group for a while now, but wasn't as blood thirsty as the others. In a way he seemed to have a much gentler side. They began talking and grew quite fond of each other. They quickly became friends, Olivia finally felt somewhat happy again. As happy as it could get at least. After some time Olivia grew a great liking to him. They would talk to each other, tell their secrets, and give advice to each other. Until one night their friendship would hang in the balance. They had a new fleet of newborns coming in that night. She didn't know what to expect. But then she saw a familiar face. Her brother was here and he was now a vampire. Her heart sunk all the way down to her feet. She tried to not let Maria and the others know he was her brother, but they eventually found out. It had seemed he had chosen this way of life, unlike her. But Olivia didn't care. He was still her brother and she loved him. She could not stand to see him like this. He was already unstable as a human, now things would be worse now he was a newborn. But another thing ran through her mind. After a year they kill them. Olivia could not let this happen. No matter how bad he was. She tried to plead with him to leave the camp and to never come back, she was even forced to touch him. But it had seemed he was stronger than her for the time being. But he was too stupid to see the truth in why he was here. He was just muscle to them. A hunk of meat on their filthy plates. But he believed he was something more. Olivia told him how naive and childish he was but he didn't listen. Instead he wanted to prove himself. He wanted to show Maria and the others that he was more than just another newborn. So he went out and found a family to bring back for dinner. Unfortunately that family was of wealth and status. Maria knew that if they were to be missing, a mob would go out looking for them. And if they found them and saw what happened, the camp would have to move. She couldn't have that weight on her shoulders, no matter how evil she was. After talking with the leaders of the camp, they decided he would put everything at risk and he must be stopped. And it was Jasper's job to do it. He secretly didn't want to, but he had done it many times before and could not say no to Maria. Once Olivia found out she tried to help Breandan escape but it was too late. It was night time and the camp fires were the only light they had. She ran out of her tent, screaming for them to please let him go. That he was stupid and didn't mean any harm to the other vampires. But they didn't listen. It took 5 men to hold her back, using cloths on their hands so she could not effect them, as she watched Jasper kill her only remaining family. Now she was all alone. But how could he do this to her? A burning rage built up inside her. She started to growl and snarl as she tried to break free from the mens grip. Jasper was supposed to be her friend, she trusted him. Now the only thing left she wanted to do was to kill every last one of them. Including Jasper. She wanted to leap and attack but she knew that they were stronger. In due time she thought. Ever since then her heart has grown cold and empty. With an eternal life she only had one thing she wanted more than anything else. Revenge. For many years Olivia wandered the States, killing and drinking the blood of anyone she wanted. But she did more than just kill. She tortured, maimed, and enjoyed every minute of it. She wanted her victims to fell the burning anguish that she felt on that one night. The murders looked as if a animal had ripped them open and ate their insides with some of them, others she'll leave hanging upside down, and countless other ways. She wanted everyone to know what she was capable of, and that you could be next. And as a way to let others know it was he,r she created a trademark. With every kill she would kiss the victims cheek with her red lipstick, leaving a print of her lips behind. She had gotten word that Jasper was in Washington. He was now with a group of 'veggie' vampires. It had seemed that he had left Maria and changed. But Olivia didn't care. The only thing she can thing about is getting her revenge. And she wasn't going to stop until the deed was done.
She made her way towards New Orleans many years after the war had ended. She wondered if the family mansion was still standing. She had no other family left so she hoped that the house would be empty. But since her brother sold the deeds so there was a possibility it was inhabited. Olivia didn't care though, once she did find someone living there she just killed them all and reclaimed her home.
During the vampire wars Olivia joined the ranks of the Volturi, becoming a valued member of the powerful coven. She had experience and knowledge of newborn vampires and quickly climbed up the ranks. But then in her fourth year she fell in love with a rogue vampire and has never looked back since. Her hatred has died down for the most part thanks to her fiancée but she still feels a bit of resentment towards the man who killed her brother. Now that she is set to be married she has since left the Volturi and has started to move on with her life.

There was not enough time in the world for Olivia, even with the life of an Immortal she felt she was wasting her life away, she needed a purpose. Thus her joining the Volturi and moving from her home in Port Angeles to Volterra, Italy. This of course is her first time out of the United States, before she never really had a desire too but once she witnessed the beauty of the town below she was glad that she actually did. And although she couldn't roam the cobbled streets during the day, she was more then happy to explore during the night hours when the streets are empty and quiet.
She steadily walked down the dim lit hallway towards the throne room for the first time since she had talked with Aro previously. At first Aro had contacted her and asked if she would join but she declined, only for her to later on change her mind and join the Volturi guard. With her knowledge and experience with newborns Aro found her to be a valuable ally at this point in time, more valuable then when he had asked her to join the first time. When she had just started to grasp her new life as a vampire she joined a small rogue coven that played a big part in the Southern Vampire Wars. Olivia worked along side with Jasper and Maria, teaching and watching the newborns until their time was up and would eventually have to kill them permanently. Now with the unnatural rise of newborns in the area, the Volturi feared there would be another war, and they needed all the help they could get.
Upon reaching the large doors they opened as she approached as if the men inside knew she had arrived. As she walked through the doors and towards the stone chairs ahead her eyes glanced over the leader's faces along with others that stood beside them, a few including Renata, Alec, Jane and one other male she had yet to meet. He looked young and charming, a small smile formed on her pale face when her eyes fell on him but quickly turned back to Aro, her smile fading quickly. When she finally reached the leaders she stopped and bowed to show her respect for them and waited to be talked to before speaking.
