Jared Eli JohnsonCharacter Play-by: Simon Baker
name: Jared Johnson age: 27 gender: Male orientation: Straight race: Shifter (wolf), Rogue birthplace: Unknown current location: Wandering around Washington occupation: Photographer
personality: Decisively persistent and particularly stubborn, Jared rarely (if ever) takes no for an answer. Once he has decided on something he will pursue it until he either succeeds or crashes and burns. This isn’t to say he is unkind, however. Though snarky and blunt and a little too forward for his own good, it is easy to see the kindness in him. He thrives on making people smile, always trying to get past the fake grins and masks people put up. He is nothing if not sincere, and has yet to find a person he can’t charm. He is perpetually cheerful, always carefree and at ease with the world, though he can be quite oblivious to people’s anger because of this.
Jared is very persuasive without actually being persuasive, using his vast vocabulary and wit to confuse people into agreeing with him. Though this sometimes backfires, he has learned to master the art of getting away with it. He does know when enough is enough, taking breaks to make sure whomever he is ‘persuading’ doesn’t decide to break him, though he learned this the hard way.
detailed history: Jared’s earliest memories are those of being in an orphanage. His most cherished memories are of being adopted and taken home by his parents, Michelle and Howard Johnson. His darkest memories are from a time unknown to him, horrible flashes of bloodshed and murder that he still has nightmares about today. Together, these memories make up Jared’s past, one that he has put aside to forge his future.
Four-year-old Jared awoke in a hospital one cold winter morning with no memory of who he was and where he had been. Having been found amidst the rubble and ash of what had once been a house, the closest thing he had to a past was the soot glaring at him from beneath his fingernails. It wasn’t long until he was sent to an orphanage in London, where he spent most of a year learning to become a ‘normal person’ again, a difficult task for a child.
The day he met his adoptive parents, however, he became someone. A part of a family. He was happy, growing up in a good home with a family that loved him. Nearly every night, however, his sleep was plagued by nightmares. Horrifying visions of blood and fire, his heart aching painfully as the sobbing howls wrenched him awake.
It wasn’t until his Junior year of high school that these dreams, his past, caught up with him. He had gone home early from school with a raging fever, having turned him slightly delirious. He wasn’t even able to reach his bed before the transformation began, his mother screaming as she witnessed her son’s skin tear apart before her eyes. It didn’t take long before his father rushed into the room, hugging his mother close and watching in fear, unsure of what to do. By the time the transformation was over, however, they were simply relieved that he hadn’t died.
His parents took the whole ‘werewolf’ thing quite well, embracing him instead of turning him out, continuing to love and support him. He made it through high school with barely an incident (that time in the locker room wasn’t his fault, it was that stupid Ricky Holman and his stupid ‘better than everyone’ attitude), graduating in the higher percentage of his class. His parents understood his decision to avoid any four year colleges, choosing instead to become a freelance photographer. He has been travelling ever since, having learned all he cares to know about his kind and the past he had lost, though he still puts time aside every year to go back to London and visit his family.
fears: Excess amounts of blood and smiley faces. strengths: His charm and his ability to confound nearly everyone he crosses paths with. Also general ‘bonuses’ from his race (heightened sense of taste, smell, and hearing, along with superior strength and speed). weaknesses: He inability to give up or stay quiet. likes: Pretty much everything. Especially chocolate, even if it makes him horribly sick. dislikes: A few vague things, like certain fruits (especially pears, he hates pears).
facial appearance: See playby. clothing: He’ll wear whatever he feels like, dressing rather sharp at times and rather shabby at others. build: See playby. marks/scars: He has a few burn scars from before he can remember, scattered along his body. They aren’t terribly noticeable. species appearance: www.kvacoaching.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/wolf-topper2.jpg powers: N/A
your name: Chance age: 18 how long have you been roleplaying?: Since I was like… six. I started on Neopets. xD how did you find us?: Emilee~ codeword:
roleplay sample: Everett finally lost the rest of his professionalism, brushing his hair back out of his face. His stance was now common, comfortable instead of courteous. He never did have much patience with being patient.
"Before this house was settled, my family had traveled with yours. Back then, we were quite wealthy and so your family had decided that Eloise Williams and I would make a lovely couple. Once the house was built, they began to barter with my parents." He sighed.
"My parents tried to tell them no, it wouldn't work, but no didn't seem to be an answer. Finally, I lost patience and told them the truth, I was a Vampire and I didn't want to be bound to someone I didn't love." He chuckled a bit here.
"Apparently that didn't sit well with Eloise, who had been fawning over me for quite some time. It was a shock when we learned what she did in her spare time. She practiced witchcraft, and instead of being afraid of our family, she was angry at me for being rejected. She put this curse on me, trapping me here so I wouldn't be able to leave her. But the curse lasted, even after her death, so I am stuck here."
"My mother stayed with me, even though my father left. I haven't seen him since, and my mother passed away recently. She had adopted Hazel, not wanting me to be alone, but neither of us could bear to turn her. Life as a Vampire isn't very enjoyable at times."
"I've been trying to figure out how to break it, ever since the day it was placed on me. Both my mother and Hazel have tried to figure it out as well, but nothing seems to work." He pulled out a small slip of paper from his suit pocket, walking forward to place it on the desk. "That's the curse, I write it down every so often so I won't forget the exact words."
Not unlike your kind, your own, You have left me in the dark, Now I must live and die alone Because you broke my fragile heart.
So you will stay forever on this land, Feeling the pain of my rejection, 'Til one day a light comes that you can stand, And knowing the truth shows you true affection.
"If you can make sense of that, you will be my hero. And maybe then I can leave, and stop... frightening your sister." He smiled sadly.
