The alley way was quiet, almost too much so, even the light breeze was making too much noise compared to the silence. Aly sat, back against the wall, gripping wildly at the ground, scraping her nails on the rough tar surface a she sat, panting heavily, face dripping in still warm crimson. "Oh god I did it again." Aly sat with her eyes shut, her voice filled with pain, husky and gruff as though she were crying, but the only wetness on her face was the minutes fresh blood around her mouth and dripping down her shirt. Her breath slowly steadied and she opened her eyes, looking around, trying to find some hint that she was still human in some way at all. She shut her eyes again and the noises started streaming in, ever since that night every little sound was too loud for her, every colour was too bright, she just couldn't take the complete intensity of every emotion, every sight, every smell. She swallowed hard, the taste of blood still lingered in the throat, yet it was already begining to dry out, she really had to get over this insane thirst, this constant need to drink every second of every day. She wasn't even sure how much she'd taken from that last person, she'd just begun feeding when she realized what she was doing, for all she knew the guy was still alive, well...sort of. Aly threw her head down into her hands, covering her eyes with her palms. "God what am i turning into..." Everything seemed so different now, she wasn't herself anymore, all she knew, all she was, was this never ending thirst. She gulped hard again, thinking about it just made it worse.
She stood up slowly, staggering slightly before she was fully verticle, she leaned against the cool wall, shutting her eyes and trying to feel some emotion that would stop her from going out again, but nothing was screaming louder than her need for blood, nothing made her think of the feelings of the person she'd be killing, nothing made her think of the family of said person, but even when thinking of this, nothing seemed more important than her thirst. Aly dropped her head, staring intently at the ground, she looked off to the side, at the edge of the alley she could see the sun was now completely set. Good, last time she went out it was nearly impossible not to go into the light where she shone like some kind of firefly, all she could think about was she was lookig like some kind of traffic light. Aly shook her head, she'd need to get used to this, from what she'd found out in her very short time as what she now was, was that she wouldn't die...or so it seemed. "What in the name of hell am I anyway..." Aly said bluntly to herself as she stepped away from the wall, staggering again and needing to hang on a dumpster, she wasn't used to the way she walked, everything seemed to fast, too fluid, it just wasn't natural, she couldn't take it. __________________________________________________________________ 538 words

Jillian walked the streets of Seattle a very happy girl. She was just out of the academy and now after seeing all her old friends after a night of partying she was feeling great despite not having drunk a drop of alcohol, it was good to see them all again. She missed the city, even though it held many bad memories. She had visited her parents graves, telling them the good news about her graduation and then visited the burned remains of her house. She would need to put that land up for sale soon, she realized grimly, it had to be done if she was ever going to truly move on to her new life in Forks. She didn't know much about the town, only that she had been assigned to their station under Chief Charlie Swan. Many would have found it odd to see a young 20 year old woman walking the streets of Seattle by herself, and they were right. But Jillian was being cocky, she was top of her class, and she was far from harmless. She had been trained in many different martial arts and her scores on the shooting range were astounding. And she was walking these streets armed, her pistol holstered at her hip in case someone was stupid enough to attack her. As she passed an alleyway she heard someone stumble around before hitting a dumpster. No doubt it was a random drug addict but Jillian wanted to make sure there was nothing she couldn't do. As she looked down the alley she saw it was a girl, rather young too. "Hello? You alright there?" she called out, while she wasn't really threatened she kept her hand hovering at her side just in case . ((Wearing: www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=25324053 ))

Foot steps grew louder and louder as Aly hung against the wall, grinding her head back as the scent entered her nose, growling low as she fought herself off. It's just a passerby, ignore them, they'll leave She thought to herself, her eyes clenched shut as she listened, the footsteps paused and she could smell the person just off to her side, she ground her teeth as the sound of a beating heart thumped too loudly in her ears, she was so fully immersed in this she nearly didn't catch the words "Hello? You alright there?" Aly strained one eye open and looked toward the shape at the end of the alley, her eyes seemed to zoom in and she could see every feature of the woman, her eyes trailed down and she saw a pistol at her side, a gun? ha, like that would help, she got hit by a truck and nothing happened, not a scratch, not a bruise, a bullet would probably just bounce off. Aly shut her eyes again, straining her mouth to open to say she was alright, but all that came out was a husky hiss. God it smells so good The thought forced itself into her mind, she shut her mouth again as soon as she realized she was tasting the air, getting a preview of how the woman would taste...and she loved it. Aly took a deep breath, an involuntary act to get away from the stress, it was a very bad idea. All the scents streamed in and Aly's eyes shot open, her head turned slowly to look at the female. She pushed off slowly from the wall, turning her body to face the woman a few feet away. She crouched down, her lips curling back and a low hiss coming through her teeth and she got ready to shoot forward, digging her hands into the tar and leave small holes and she dashed. __________________________________________________________________ 332 words

Seattle. The city really was a disgusting place. No matter how hard he tried, Nikolai could not grow to like the chaotic streets. They were too filled with vile people, trying hard to make their ways by whatever means necessary. Whether it be through gambling, sex, alcohol…it was the lives of filth. And Nikolai was more than happy to rid them from the world they so comfortably lived.
He could smell it in the air…feel it in the wind; the smell of endorphins and adrenaline coming from each of Seattle’s nightlife selections. Strip clubs, bars, casinos…it was all around him. The dark desire to kill danced through his mind as he wandered the streets of Seattle. He wore a black leather coat and his eyes were cast down. The soft roll of tires on the streets passed by, kicking up a bit of the water from yesterday’s rain.
As he passed by the most popular strip club in Seattle, he saw a trashy looking woman come out…drunk beyond comprehension. Trailing behind her was a fine suited businessman who would be willing to pay his life’s salary for one night of pleasure. It was that precise thing that sickened Nikolai to a point of rage. As the staggered down the alleyway, Nikolai’s eyes flashed a shade darker than their normal blood red. He quickly moved to join the two, and without a warning he drained them both clean of any life they might have had.
He was quick and clean…never leaving a mess behind. He moved the bodies to a place they wouldn’t be found until they had began to rot and decay, leaving behind no evidence of him being there. Stashing his hands back in his jacket pockets, he walked casually out of the alleyway and began back towards home…if that was what it was called.
But, before he could get even another ten blocks, the smell of freshly spilled blood filled his nostrils. The smell appealed to him, but he was more curious of where it was coming from. It didn’t take him long to find it and when he did, he almost wasn’t surprised by what he saw. A respectable looking woman was reaching out to a young girl who seemed scared. But the young girl didn’t see it that way. Not when that young girl was a newborn vampire whose thirst for blood was more than any rational thinking could break. As the vampire turned her head towards the woman, Nikolai saw the thirst in her eyes…saw the pure, primal instinct of killing filled in those bright red eyes.
Had the woman been anything other than respectable, Nikolai would have just watched in amusement. But, he couldn’t see an innocent life being taken when he could prevent it. Quickly moving in front of the woman, Nikolai bore his fangs and hissed warningly at the girl. He knew she wouldn’t stop and there would be a fight to prove strength and dominance. He had only taken on a couple newborns before in his life. He only hoped he could do it once more. Looking back, his eyes glanced over the woman and he spoke in a low voice. “Get out of here.” It was an order, one that held authority and command behind it. When the woman hesitated, he hissed again. “Now!” The last thing he wanted was for the poor woman to be the newborn’s dinner.

Jillian watched as the girl reacted to her presence. It was weird. The way she moved, that hiss that emerged from her mouth, it was like she was an animal. She'd never heard of anything like this at the academy. Maybe it was some new kind of drug. As the girl crouched down near the ground Jill felt like she was suddenly like a deer facing down a wolf on the hunt. Something about this girl seemed to awaken some kind of primal fear within her.
"Oh shit..." she didn't even finish the sentence before the girl began to charge straight at her.
She was fast, and Jill should have been dead right there if it were not for a the third person to enter this drama. With a gust of air she saw a man place himself between the two women.
“Get out of here.” the man said, Jill simply blinked not sure what was going on, “Now!” The urgency in his voice made her snap out of the daze. Who was this person? And why was has he protecting her. With a single nod she began to run, she wouldn't leave though. She had to see what this was all about.

Time wasn;t working normaly, nothing seemed to make sense at all, yet at the same time everything seemed to fall into place, she was thirsty and a meal had come to find her, how lucky. The female before her slow to react, or did she just seem slow, Aly couldn't tell anymore, she moved forward, her eyes only seeing her prey, her ears only hearing the constant thump thump thump of her heard as the human saw her coming. Aly's vision widened as a new face appeared before her, she hadn't seen them or heard them coming, but all she knew at that moment was utter rage, how dare this man come between her and her prize. His hissing warned her but she simply sped up, was he really challenging HER? He was out of his mind! Aly wasn't herself at that moment, she was some blood crazed beast who would die for a drop of blood, even though she was still stained by her recent meal. She lept forward, aiming for the one who had come between her and per food, he had just yelled out to the human to run off and she had just about started moving, images ran through her head as she seemed to soar forward, it seemed like time had slown down, she had time to think, but the only things she could think of was the sweet and salty taste of the females blood. A growl came out as she imagined the taste, she was nearly drooling. __________________________________________________________________ 259 words

Nikolai felt the hesitation in the woman and for a moment, thought she was going to stay. But, instead he heard the soft patter of footsteps fading away in the distance. His muscles relaxed only a bit before he then realized what he was up against: a newborn. And from the looks of it, a pissed off newborn. It wasn’t really anything out of the ordinary…they always seemed to be mad and angry when they didn’t get their way. As much as he hated it, he had been the same way when he was first changed. Of course, his aggression stemmed from seeing the one love of his life slain and raped before his own eyes…paralyzed by the venom of a vampire bite.
His eyes flashed another shade darker as he thought of his wife…of waking up to her mangled body. He could feel the familiar burning sensation of anger and rage running through his body as he thought of it. The adrenaline that was there would likely be enough to at least prevent the newborn from killing…or so he hoped.
As the girl charged towards him, he felt her skin grace only a mark against his before he jumped up and moved to the side. He wasn’t greatly trained in fighting, but he knew well enough. “You don’t want to do this.” His voice was low and commanding. It was likely she wouldn’t listen…but he knew there was still at least a little human blood in her…the bright red eyes confirmed it. “You aren’t a killer.” In reality, he didn’t care who she killed, as long as they weren’t worthy for life. That was the prime reason he had decided to become an assassin. He wanted to rid the world of those that didn’t belong. He took another defensive stance. He wouldn’t attack the newborn…he would just be attacked until she regained control. In the distance he could hear the footsteps ceasing and he closed his eyes. How he hoped the human didn’t return. Wouldn’t this be a lovely scenario to explain.

She ran a good distance before turning the corner and stopping. There was no way she would just leave this alone. This place may not be her district but she couldn't just walk away from what may be a potential assault or even worse. She wasn't worried about the guy, he seemed able to protect himself. Jillian was more worried about the girl and what that guy might do to her. Looking around she noticed that the building she was at was an office, rushing to the front door she found it still open so Jillian went inside and climbed up a set of stairs.
She found herself in a dimly lit hall way that ran parallel to the street which would let her observe the encounter below. The man seemed to be trying to talk the girl from attacking. This whole scene was insane! No drug should be sending that girl into such a frenzy. Maybe it was a disease then? Some kind of weird form of rabies?
With a curse Jillian dug her hand into her pocket and fished out her cell phone, flicking it open she dialed 911.
"Hello? Um, I'm right now watching watching a confrontation between two people which may turn into an assault. One of those involved appears to be intoxicated with something, so please send an ambulance... Sorry I dont know exactly where I am, yep... Alright, yes you can phone this number again. Thank you" she finished before putting the phone back in her pocket. A squad car was on their way, Jillianss location had been registered and they were headed here with an ambulance. Jill only prayed they arrived in time.

Her skin just managed to rub against his before he lept away, Aly turned and growled at him again, flaring her fangs at him as a threat, she didn't even know what she was doing anymore, this was all just moving to fast for what was left of her human mind to keep up with. For the past few days she had felt herself becoming less and less human, feeling what little control she had over herself slip further and further away, or so it seemed. She was still far from used to the way she moved, but right now, just letting it flow every movement seemed smooth, too smooth. She heard the man speak trying to calm her, but it just annoyed her more, her knew nothing about her, he knew nothing about her pain, her thirst! Suddenly her throat pained again and she realized her meal was gone, but the scent still lingered in the air. "....phone this number again. Thank you" The words entered her ears and her eyes flashed wide, she looked up and could see a shape in the window, once again her eyes seemed to zoom into the face, she could see the woman, watching...the idiot. Aly dug her hands into the tar again and shot toward the wall of the alleyway, a fire escape ladder hung above her and she lept up, hoping to just make it, but over shooting it and landing on the wall. She dug her fingers into the bricks to keep her from falling. Had she been human the bricks would have cut her, but her fingers just sliced through the hard walls and got grip as she stopped dead, hanging on like a spider. She took a moment to take in what she had done, maybe a moment too long.

Baden was in Seattle shopping for parts for his car. He was a mechanic after all. He hardly ever went to Seattle because well he was new to the Washington area. He purchased his radiator cap and walked out of the Auto Zone. He parked his car miles away for he liked walking. He placed the small bag in his jacket pocket and walked down a lone street. As he was walking, Baden stopped in the mid center to another entrance to an alleyway. He caught three scents, two were just awful, and one human. He sighed to only know this probably wasn't his business but, the human scent had him slightly worried.
He walked deeper into the alley only to see two pale figures. They smelt like ash and well to him disgusting. The human scent was not far. Baden only knew what they were but, he didn't mention it. "Well, It seems I missed the party." He said with small sarcasm. He was a weretiger and the only thing he disliked the most were vampires. But, he had noticed one was trying to stop the other from killing a human.
Baden still stood in the middle of the alley. He knew that if they smelled bad, to them he smelt just the same. His eyes flashed a light blue color as he gave a smirk. "Where's the human?" He asked in worry. He was willing to save anyone from the likes of vampires. Baden was known an Alpha and he could change any form of his body into his tiger form. His senses were raised as he was getting ready to change. Baden had no fear of vampires. He hasn't come up against one but, never feared them. Baden's only concern was the human's safety from these so called monsters. [/sub]

Nikolai’s eyes remained locked on the newborn as he saw the anger and frustration begin to peek through even more. She was certainly pissed that he had interrupted her plan to feed and she wanted revenge. But, as she made her second lunge towards him…she stopped abruptly as young girl’s voice seemed to ring through the alleyway…even though it wasn’t audible to a normal human. His eyes closed as he saw the newborn dart up an escape ladder, wishing with all he had that the human would run and not look back. Of course, he knew it wouldn’t happen…now she was in a building, which was possibly one of the worst places to be in such a situation. Sure, there were thousands of places to hide…but when it came down to it…a vampire could sniff you out real fast and you wouldn’t stand a fleeting chance in hell of survival.
Just as he was about to dart after the newborn and try and pull her back down to the alleyway, a rather disgusting scent filled his lungs. It wasn’t that of a wolf, but rather of a feline…perhaps a tiger? Nikolai’s eyes peered towards the entrance of the alleyway as a young man no older than twenty five stood. He asked where the human was and Nikolai growled lightly. Was the man an idiot? Could he not see where the newborn was scurrying off to? Trying to keep his composure, he spoke calmly to the man. “I told her to run, but she appears to be stubborn.” He spoke and then quickly added. “She’s in that building…presumably on the…third floor.” He was obviously guessing for he was unsure where the human was, but from the range of her voice, that would have been his best guess.
“You get inside and try and get her out. I’ll take care of her.” Nikolai spoke in a rather commanding voice. It wasn’t his fault he was a natural leader…it was just part of who he was. In a situation where a person’s life was at hands, he wanted more than anything to help. And usually, he knew the best tactics.
Not waiting for the tiger’s reply, he continued his move towards the escape ladder. He grabbed hold and quickly began to climb up…trying his hardest to catch up to the newborn. She was fast, that was for sure. But, he was just as fast. Finally reaching her, he grabbed her leg and tried with all his strength to pull her down. He knew it was hopeless as he hands were pretty much pushed into bricks, but he had to at least try and give the human enough time to escape.

Jillian watched with wide eyes as the girl dashed into the alley way and started climbing the brick wall. It was then when she realized that she was out of her environment. This was insane, and that girl was definately not human. Maybe some kind of escaped lab experiment? Jillian wasn't going to stick around to find out. She wasn't afraid, but she did want to make sure she would survive the night.
Spinning around she made her way back to the entrance of the building, almost jumping down the stairs before jumping out of a fire escape back into the street. A moment later she stated making her way down the street making sure she had an open lane of fire if that thing came after her.
In the distance she began to hear sirens and was starting to feel relieved. Other police! Alone she probably didn't stand a chance but together? Jill stopped at a three way intersection and decided this wouldn't be a bad place to wait, after a few seconds the lights of a single squad car began to flash in the corner of her vision. With a smile she waved them over. AS the car stopped a pair of officers stepped out.
"Hey, Cadet Mcdougal here. The mess is just over there" she told the pair indicating the large office building she had just left. The two simply nodded before falling in behind her as they approached the alley and the other people once again.

Her hands dug into the wall as she moved up, grabbing, but something caused her to stop dead, she sniffed and nearly gagged as a disgusting scent entered her, she snapped her head to the side and saw another male standing at the edge of the alley, the first male was talking to him, she grinned and used this as a change to climb faster up. Then suddenly she slipped slightly, she looked down and the first male had latched onto her leg, he wasn;t that heavey, but it was very annoying. She tried will all her force to carry on climbing, ignoring him completely, but her eyes caught a movement as she saw the human moving. Aly cussed under her breath and looked down to the vampire who had slowed her, hissing violently. She let go of the wall and allowed herself to fall to the ground, landing hand, causing the tar to crack under her. She quicly stood up, looking around for the male, he's truly annoyed the hell out of her now, and wa about to pay for it. She became aware of a searing pain in her side, she looked down and ny her knee her pants had tore, revieling the skin on her knee to have cracked, very deeply. Aly crindged as she saw it healing, gritting her teeth as she scanned for the male. "You're gonna die for that, and I'll eat you instead!" She yelled out, her voice corse and husky from thirst, she needed something to drink now, it was killing her, she could hardly stand it anymore, she could even smell her own blood under her skin, which was putting her into more of a frenzy.

Nikolai heard the hiss emit from the newborns mouth and he immediately knew he was in trouble. A part of him wished he would have just let the human die, but she seemed innocent enough. She was working to kill the people he wanted dead as well. Well, not kill them, but secure them away behind bars. To let the newborn drink her dry would be a mark against himself and he couldn’t let that happen. Though he would have much rather stayed out of the entire ordeal in general. It was too late for that though and as the newborn fell to the ground, he heard a soft cracking noise. Looking down her saw part of her pants were torn and her knee was cracked underneath. A slightly sadistic smile fell on his lips as he jumped down with grace and ease…landing in a crouched position.
He knew she was ready to attack him and as the vile, venomous words filled the alleyway, he couldn’t help but be thankful for the sirens that were approaching. Granted, it would still take them a couple minutes to get here, but that meant he only had to hold out for that long. To expose herself to a mass group of humans would only get her killed. Though, it usually took more than a couple humans to scare a newborn. Hopefully the woman had called in an entire force.
“I’d like to see you try.” He said, trying to provoke her just a bit. He had to keep the focus on him to prevent her from making a sly run down the streets. His words were cold, but he knew they meant nothing to the newborn. His stance was defensive as he hissed warningly. If she was going to threaten him, she needed to realize the consequences. “I can promise you though, you will die newborn.” His eyes were a darker red than hers, and they flashed even darker as a sinister smile spread over his lips. He awaited her attack, mentally noting his resources around the alley in case things took a turn for the worst.
