The sound of a steady beat came from the desk as Cassidy Jones sat their idly drumming her fingers along the wooden surface. Other than that, a pin could drop and be heard. Even by a human. If there were any humans around. Four. Only four appointments today. And only eight walk-ins. All around the same time. It was terribly boring. One might think that a being that’s kind lives forever would be used to not being entertained all the time, but no. Not this soul. She was determined to have purpose to her eternity. Sadly, today’s purpose was to watch the clinic.
Cas slid back in her chair and let out a big sigh. The tapping moved to her feet now. If she didn’t hear the chime of the front door opening soon she was going to close for the day and go to the park to draw some people. She’d get more money that way. Buuuuut she couldn’t exactly get supper that way. Well, she could, but that’d be bad. They just got to Port Angeles! No need ruining a perfectly good town. She liked it here. It was usually bustling with people, some donating, some getting checkups, it was wonderful. Unless it was a Tuesday afternoon and nobody was sick or feeling generous with their bodily fluids. Damn humans. Always worrying about needles and stuff. They don’t hurt! At all! Well, it’d been a while since the girl had felt a needle. A loooooong while.
When the ringer of the phone broke the silence she nearly had a heart attack. Or, what ever the equivalent would be when your heart doesn’t beat. It took her till the third ring before she let down her guard and remembered that something needed be done when a phone rang. “Heeello, Caring Hands family clinic, Ellie speaking!” She answered in her ‘professional’ voice. She hated making up fake names. They all sucked. Cas took a moment to look at the caller I.D. nearly laughing as she did. All that panic for nothing. “How’s life Bro? Being a colossal jerk and making people hate you today?”
“Shuddup Cassie, you know you love me.” Her big brother Dom chuckled. “I need you to do something” He paused for a moment, he could practically hear her roll her eyes. “It’ll get you out of the cliniiiiiic~” He sang, she bolted up.
“Myeees, my wonderful brother?”
“I need you to drive the rest of the blood bags home, the hospital called and they wont be able to get anything till tomorrow, their freezers are down so we need to store them at home.”
“Alright. Can I close shop?”
“Yes. Yes you can. Now hurry up and get your big butt home.” They shared a laugh for a moment, and said their goodbyes. Cassidy ran around the clinic tidying up before she locked everything for the night. She hauled three large boxes into the back of a red van that had an air-conditioned back. After placing them carefully down she opened the top box that was marked as F, for food and pulled out one blood bag. The girl crawled into the back of the van and closed the doors, couldn’t risk anyone seeing. She tore the top off and poured the still-warm liquid into her ‘coffee’ mug. It was odd, but better than drinking from the bag. Less conspicuous and messy too. She tossed the bag to the side, not really caring if some blood spilt on the floor, didn’t make too much of a difference to her, she had to wash the back out every night anyway.
Cassidy hopped out of the van and made sure everything was locked up and secure before getting into the driver seat and heading off on the long trek home.

Kenny was laying on a bench in Port Angles..Just laying there in hunger. He had been so busy lately with his girlfriend, siblings, and work that he hasn't been out to hunt in a very long time. Two days ago he spent all day with Ana and making her happy because, well, that's what a boyfriend is for. Being there. They didn't get to go anywhere beside running in the forest and in her bedroom, but at least he got to see her. For the past week though, he's been with his newborn brother making sure he had bottled animals blood to drink since he won't kill any animals. His boss wasn't helping his busy schedule either, making him have ten new tracks for a musical play in California by next week. He only gave him a month to make ten songs! Even though there's no lyrics its still hard to do in such a short span of time. Each song had to have a different feel to it to match the scenes of the play... Utterly boring in his opinion. He loves music dearly but this job sucks! Music is supposed to be fun not rushed and boring.
Kenny's eyes scanned the sky above him. The stars were dulled because of the lights on Port Angles but at least with his vision he is able to see it better than humans. It was keeping his mind of blood and that's all he needed right now. He was miles away from a forest to go hunt in and he's afraid if he moves he'll attack a human. Mason would be so disappointed in him and as an older brother...he wanted to be strong and not slip up!
He just needed to muster the strength to move away from all humans and into a forest. And right now he was resting himself and clearing his mind to do so. His concentration was interrupted by the strong smell of blood though. A lot of blood. So free as if not to be in a human. Kenny sat up and sniffed...it was in fact human blood and the smell was getting stronger. His teeth gritted and he gripped the bench so he wouldn't move...he was so close to loosing control that he could feel his vampire wanting to attack.
A van come into view...a van that was holding the blood. By this time he couldn't hold himself down any longer...he needed it. Without thinking he ran to it as it passed him and jumped landing on the step of the van then slid the door open. Not other second later he was in this persons van sniffing out where the blood was to get his hands on it.

The van puttered along past the park, there was a loud thump in the back that Cas mistakenly attributed to a pothole. She puttered on down the street until she turned down the road toward the woods, toward home. That’s when the smell the town dissipated and the distinct scent of another being flitted through her nose. She knew that scent. Vampire. Definitely. And too close for comfort. Inside? Yes.
Oh HELL no. That wasn’t gonna happen on her watch. Her foot plunged into the break pedal so hard the van shook as it came to a halt. There was a loud bang as something collided with the wall separating the fridge in the back to the cabin. She threw it in park and glided out and around the van, raging. The back doors flew open and before the stranger could get a word in edgewise, he was lifted by his collar and tossed to the opposite side of the street. “Uhm HELLO!” She crossed her arms, trying to look as imposing as possible. Not very easy when you are stuck in the body of a 16 year old girl. She sniffed the air, he wasn’t a newborn, So why was this vampire attacking a van? She expected more out of every other vamp then she should have, but if she could be around the stuff all day and not have a problem why couldn't anyone else? “Where the hell is your self control? This isn’t exactly a buffet mister.” She tapped her foot waiting for a response. Better be good.

Kenny sniffed around until he spotted where to blood bags were. His eyes wide in hunger about to grab one but before he could start the car come to a sudden stop and he went forward! He crashed into the window and fell on his back in the passengers side. The other being, who was obviously a vampire, had left the vehicle to the other side. She grabbed him by the collar and flung him out of her van. “Uhm HELLO!” His butt met the street before he stood up straight. “Where the hell is your self control? This isn’t exactly a buffet mister.”
"I deserved that." He smirked. Kenny suddenly felt terrible for what he had done and the fact he was after human blood made him feel that much more terrible. "I'm...sorry...I haven't had anything for a week...or two..I lost count. I've been so busy I haven't had time to hunt.." He paused looking at her...she looked pretty young to be a vampire. "I need something..." He sniffed once to see if an animal was near by, no there was not. Hopeless, he sat on the curb of the street with his forearm propped on his legs. He wasn't sure what the other vampire planned on doing but he needed to find a way to blood before he would really slip. He got lucky this time, no humans, just bags...

Well, he didn’t seem to be lying. But she was still angry about him attempting to hi-jack her boxes. There was no way Cas could go without helping him though. It was against her nature. Before he could get up and try to sniff out a meal she was at the back of the van again, opening the untouched boxes that were still secured in their place. After reaching in the food box she tossed two bags of AB+ his way. She didn’t pay to much mind to the fact that if he missed and didn’t catch them, there would be a hell-of-a mess on the road that any carnivore around would drool over. Her curls bounced as she walked over to the front of the van, got her mug and turned to him and plopped down on the cold concrete at his side.
“Have those on me.” She shrugged. Why was she so damn nice to strangers? “I’ll explain to my big bro why we are three short.” She smiled and swished around the metallic liquid in her favorite cup before taking a sip. “Cassidy by the way. Cassidy Jones. I wasn’t aware there was other vamps in this area. It’s kind of cool to know.” She nodded to the stranger.

Kenny shook his head at himself lightly. He felt like a complete idiot for intruding into her van. When she threw two bag of blood his way he caught them and just stared. He knew he shouldn't but the smell was egging him on to drink. He tried not thinking about Ana and how upset she would be or the fact his eyes would be a shade of red for a certain amount of time. What if his craving for human blood got worse? “Have those on me.” He nodded lightly, "Yeah, thanks." He told her. “Cassidy by the way. Cassidy Jones. I wasn’t aware there was other vamps in this area. It’s kind of cool to know.”
Kenny finally took his eyes off the bags and onto Cassidy, "Nice to meet you Cassidy. I'm Kenny Hao." He never bothered with his first name, Micheal. His parents called him Kenny or Kenneth growing up so it just stuck with him as years went on.
"I really shouldn't." He added looking at the bags again. He needed to though so maybe the others would understand, couldn't be that bad right? He opened one bag and began to drink from it. It was just as he remembered human blood to be, sweet and fulfilling. He continued drinking until he started feeling better. Half the bag was gone in second. "I'll never go without for that period of time again. And by the way, I don't live in Port I live in Forks...But I come here often." He gave her a soft smile then took another drink from the bag. "It will be interesting to see how my sister will react to me having red eyes...Definitely going to avoid my brother." He thought out loud.

This kid was fun, more fun then sitting around a stupid clinic with no patients. No, she didn’t wish people sickness, but it would be much easier to get through a day where she actually got to do something. She looked over the boy, he was resisting drinking. Probably a vegetarian. She could never take the taste of animal blood. It was gamey, tainted, and worked. Besides, it’s not like she’d ever hurt anyone! Well, there was that one time when she was first practicing with needles, but that wasn’t her fault. It was the needle. Those things are confusing at first! Maybe Ruio was just a better teacher than most people. Then again, keeping someone in a cellar sustained on bloodbags, never having her kill a single person, never allowing her to be near someone during that delicate time in her life, was one way. Boring, but a certainly effective way of teaching.
“I really shouldn’t.” She smirked. “You know no one got hurt from that! There is nothing wrong with it. Blood drives were quite a good idea if I do say so myself. We help the humans and provide for our family! We save lives all the time while still getting what’s best for a Vampy.” Cas chuckled at his comment about eye color. “I use contacts! Helps a whole lot when you are around humans twenty-four/seven. I don’t think anyone has ever mentioned my eyes before. Well, not since color contacts were invented. It was hard before then. I usually just had to use rose tinted glasses and explain.” The girl tended to ramble. It happened a whole lot. “So you have siblings too? I’m technically the youngest, aaaand the second oldest. Funny that I’m in a family of four.” She leaned in grinning. Was his family all vampires too? That would be amazing! Even more people to hang out with!

"You know no one got hurt from that! There is nothing wrong with it. Blood drives were quite a good idea if I do say so myself....." Kenny sipped the blood while he listened to Cassidy speak. She was a talker, good thing because the conversation wouldn't die anytime soon. He rambled himself sometimes but usually on one subject despite the fact he can be ADD from time to time. “So you have siblings too? I’m technically the youngest, aaaand the second oldest..." He laughed lightly. His family was all over the place and most of them depressed and hurting. "You're the youngest and the second oldest?" He asked raising his eyebrow.
"I do have siblings. I'm the oldest then my brother, Mason, then the twins Ash and Bonnie. Two of us are vamps. Ash is new and trying to be vegetarian like me only he's having a hard time because he doesn't want to kill animals. My girlfriends family has bottled blood so that makes it a little easier on him. And once he see's my eyes I have the feeling he will be disappointed..." He paused, sighed, then sipped the blood again. "Not to mention my girlfriend and human siblings...They're going to think I killed." He chuckled lightly shaking his head. "I'll have some explaining to do but they'll all get over it. At least my sister would be the most understanding and she knows the least about our kind. Kinda funny. What's your family like?" He asked.

So they were a new to the vamp thing. That kind of explains the lack of control. She kinda felt bad for tossing him across the road like that. Not bad enough to say sorry though. The girl rarely apologized for anything. “Unlike you, my siblings aren’t exactly related to me.” She laid her arms on her knees and rocked backwards, stretching her back. “I was turned at the youngest age, and I ‘Act the youngest.’ “ She imitated her older brother’s voice then let out a small laugh “But I’m legitimately the second oldest. Eighty nine! Dom is like, Sixty something! But they still treat me like a kid! Oh well. I should probably tell you who everyone is, right? Yeah. Well, there is Ruio, The oldest, by FAR. Over Two hundred. He is really cool.”
She pulled back from her stretch and leaned over to the side that her new friend sat upon. “Then there is Dominic. He can be an asshole sometimes, but he is generally a blast to hang out with. Then there is Kelledry, she cares, but she can be a stick in the mud. Never wants me to do anything fun! She isn’t my mom!” Sitting straight or still wasn’t something Cassidy could do very well. “Feel like meeting them? If you swing by the house we can get you cleaned up and hell, you could have a pair of contacts, I think we have a new set of gold.” She shrugged. “Can wear them till the red-eye wears off if it’s gonna be that much of a problem.”

She seemed to have a rather large family too, which could be fun. And it could be a tough job keeping up with everyone. Kenny, in a family of seven, never seemed to be able to see them all everyday. His work was a lot of the blame but he didn't complain. He enjoys being a musician and it brought in money. "I'm only twenty-two," He laughed lightly. Age doesn't have much of a preference when it comes to vampires, although it's always interesting to hear how old one another is. “Feel like meeting them? If you swing by the house we can get..." He hated feeling weak and thought about telling her maybe another time. But decided not to hide anything and let her help out, that way he could get to know her better. He didn't have many vampire friends so why put down an opportunity? At least they have an interesting story on how they met!
"Sure, sounds fine to me." He agreed. "And contacts would be great." He added chuckling.
Kenny stood up figuring they might as well go. "I don't know how Ruio can stand being over a hundred years old. Wouldn't it get annoying watching the world change like that?" He asked curiously.

Her brow’s shot up as he said his age, it was not what she was expecting. So much younger than she thought, for his age, she was surprised he had as much control as he did. So levelheaded! Cas couldn’t really remember how she was at that age. She’d only been a vampire for about six years at that point, Ruio was probably still reluctant to let her out. Well, that’s a lie, she got to go out after a few months, but she was kept under strict observation for those first few years. It was weird to think of a being kid just on your own. She certainly would not have made it. “Damn, you are just a kid! You are barely even older than you look!” Vampire logic was fuzzy. In fact, there was barely any logic to it. A few rules here and there.
Her family had run into plenty of those who didn’t follow them. She always wondered what would happen to those who disobeyed, but did not want to stick around to find out. Her family technically was finding all the loopholes in the system. But no one ever seemed to have a problem with it. After he stood she jumped to her feet and began walking to the van. “Ru…. I don’t get him sometimes. I bet age can change you, and I wonder what we was like when he was human. But now, he kinda acts like Batman. He is kind of stoic and stern, but good at heart. I suppose.” She shrugged as she opened the drivers side door and hopped in.
