Captain Marcus Davenport let out a cough as he exited the car, the dust of his arrival still lingering in the air. He didn't know why he was here but he was slowly doing the tour of the entire state and he supposed he might as well check out everything. The town was a nice sight, nothing amazing about it aside from the nice beach and apparently there was a festival here during the summer. Honestly Marcus was getting bored. The scheduled maintenance on his aircraft was taking longer than expected and the base commander had simply told him to take the week off. Taking a seat beneath a tree he let his mind wander to his father. He had not seen the man in years, but he still dearly loved him. It was just the fact that he and his mother traveled allot, his father said it was they way of their people. They simply could not keep the bird locked up too long, they needed to roam the world. Apparently that was part of their downfall, the blood simply became too diluted, and once separated they were unable to protect one another. His father had told him horror stories of how he had found his fellows sometimes beggars and wrecks living on the street. It saddened him to know he was the last of his kind, the last shapeshifter. His father said that he himself had lost the ability when he had met his mother, while he no longer could become the hawk he still retained some of its habits. He never stayed in one spot for long, always moving. He had only stayed in Canada long enough to raise Marcus then he moved to England for two years before living in Russia for a time. Like a good wife his mother followed him everywhere but Marcus could see it took a toll on her. Getting off the ground Marcus decided to take a walk around, get a feel for the area, maybe the ocean breeze would be good for flying today, he could only hope... (So this is an open thread to any shapeshifters and Quileute tribe members, Marcus is TOTALY oblivious to the supernatural world, as far as hes concerned hes the only shapeshifter in the world. Hes now here to find out about it So yeah... Enlighten me )

Another day and another routine patrol had ended. At least that was what he thought. Every day they had been diligent and covering the La Push forest as well as the Forks forest. They used to mind the old treaty line and made sure that they didn’t cross it any way but ever since the pack’s alliance with the Cullens were broken, it seemed like the border had been nonexistent anymore . Although Sam and his pack had been civil towards the family, ever since a leech killed one of Colin’s brother all hell has broken loose. Because in the first place, shape shifters had been born and made just for the sole purpose of keeping those troublesome vampires in check. Hell in check would not be right term because when it came to the not so vegetarian kind of bloodsuckers, the wolf packs were ruthless. Those damned things were what turned them into savage and merciless killers. Colin sure had his fair share of killings.
His huge paws skidded to a stop as he neared the old treaty line. In his wolf form, the male shape shifter lifted his head up and carefully sniffed the air. As soon as he had caught a good whiff of the scent, a snarl escaped his mouth. It was unmistakable. Hanging in the air was a couple of shape shifters scents. One had been familiar and the other completely foreign to him. Great. He had already dismissed the whole pack and he was on his way to visit Kaylee back at his house. It looked like his plans had changed. Letting a low growl escape him, he pushed his paws onto the ground and began to follow the scent.
He could feel his blood boil as he ran and neared the place where the scents were getting stronger. Although the other scent was familiar, he knew that it didn’t belong to any of his pack mates. For some reason though, he couldn’t put his finger on who owned it. Well, whoever it was, the shape shifter better be up to something good like tracking down another vampire and has every intention of getting rid of it because if that wasn’t the case, he would have to do the job himself. And he was sure that he wouldn’t have any problems or qualms of getting rid of both if he had to.
Colin was prepared for anything as he slowed to a stop. But when he finally got a good view of the other unknown male shape shifter, he was now sure that he really didn’t have to do anything. The shape shifter didn’t look like he wanted to cause harm to anyone. But of course that didn’t mean he felt comfortable around this particular unknown male shape shifter. In actuality, he wasn’t. He felt wary of him all because of his past. Well at least from what he has heard. Colin was still wary of the man because he was well unaware of the skills this man had. With that thought in mind, the lone wolf lingered in the shadows. He had opted to stay hidden until but this unknown shape shifter scent was driving him crazy. Colin was curious to know what exactly this shape shifter is and quickly change back into his human form. Thanks to the draw string around his ankle, he was able to at least get decent enough to face him.
”You do realize you’re on wolf’s turf?” The eighteen year old said as he finally moved out of the shadows and made an appearance. ”That’s not why I’m here in case you’re wondering.” He said stopping as he faced the other male. Brown eyes moved on the mystery shape shifter. ”I’m just curious to know what are you exactly...Never picked up a scent like yours before.” He told him.

Marcus blinked as the other man emerged from the forest. Not out of surprise, he heard him coming for awhile, but how he seemed to be dressed, the lack of shoes and ragged look of clothes made Marcus think he was a beggar or some sort. "Um. Okay..." he said awkwardly. He was honestly at a loss for what he should say. The kid had appeared from out of the blue spouting what seemed to Marcus to be complete gibberish. Was this man crazy? Silently he reviewed what he had said. Something about wolves, smell and what he was. For a moment he wondered if the man was talking about his shape shifting. That couldn't be the case... His tribe was dead, almost none of them had any children and even then Marcus was told he would be able to recognize them at once. A sort of connection they all had. Besides his people were not known for having an increased sense of smell as this man seemed to claim. Suddenly he was reminded of one of the stories his father told, of the 'dark ones' that had split his tribe apart. The stories spoke of how these creatures were of the dead, zombies who's senses and physical power were the equal, if not greater than those of his ancestors. He had thought them to be as dead as his people. But maybe there was a kernel of truth to it. "Well then, I don't know what you're talking about... Care to tell me who and I guess what you are?" Wow, the poor guy look completely clueless in what Colin just asked him. He thought it was pretty straight forward question. He tilts his head from the side and look at the man curiously, “You don’t know what a wolf shifter smells like? And you’re in La Push…” He shook his head like a disappointed teacher, scolding his student for not knowing something so logical. “I’m a wolf shape shifter.” He said, proudly. He thought every shape shifter knew about wolves, since the wolves ‘shifters overpopulated other species on the animal chart. But, Colin had no fricking idea what this guy was…He was trying to figure it out. Were tiger? No. Were fox? Not even close. He never smelled anything like this guy. Was this guy even a mammal to begin with? He slightly scold trying to rack out his brain but so far was getting nada, nothing, zap. “Mind telling me what you are…?” He asked, letting the question flow in the air. The autumn wind felt good against his feverish skin as he stood there waiting for some answers to his question. He just hit him there like a tidal wave. Could this guy be some sort of vampire shifter combination? Like if the mother was a vampire hybrid and the father was a shape shifter…His eyes slightly widen, not sure how to take this encounter.

Marcus stood there for a minute, his mind processing what had been said. If it was true then this was a massive revelation to him. He wasn't alone, there were other shapeshifter's in the world. He wasn't completely sure though. The man could very well be just completely insane, but for now he'd play along.
"Well, first of all, I'm just here to kill time. Decided I might see what this state has to offer. La Push was just next on my list." he replied to the first question before continuing... "So your a shapeshifter, I'm not sure what to say, and a wolf at that. Now i don't know what a wolf smells like because one, I've never smelled a wolf, and two I don't have what seems to be a enhanced sense of smell."
"I honestly never thought there were other shapeshifters in the world, let alone another tribe of them. My father always had me believe I was the last of our people but if what your saying is true then..." he left that last part open, he was both relieved and scared, things had been easier when he believed he was the only shifter. Now if this was true then things were now became complicated. Within him he felt his hawk wishing to simply flee, to get away from this man before he said anything more.
"As to your last question, I'm... A hawk"

He could already tell this man probably thought he was crazy or mentally insane, "Uhhh..." He began eloquently. "Well, maybe I can show you my wolf form so it’s easier to believe" He cleared his throat, and stood there. "Look..." He said. "I don’t know what your father taught you but he was wrong. There are plenty of shifters out there because as long as the blood suckers roam this earth, so would our people …er… or animals. Whichever. “He looked down at the ground awkwardly, but continued regardless.”We can... take it from there." He slightly grinned at the man and decided that he would show the hawk shifter his wolf form, whether he wanted to see it or not.
"Alright." He said decisively. "I want you to see me in my wolf form then I want to stop looking at him as if I’m crazy." He grinned again, and before the hawk shape shifter could protest or say anything else, he ran behind the nearest tree. He quickly tore off his sweats, and then phased. He felt his dark silver fur coat his body, his arms elongate and stretch, and he fell foreword onto his hands, which were now paws. After a couple seconds, he was completely phased, and he walked out from behind the tree. He looked at the other male shape shifter, and sat on his haunches like a dog. He walk over to the hawk shape shifter and was taller than even a horse and massive than a large grizzle bear. True, he was in his 'friendly wolf' mode, but it still was probably disturbing to see a guy go behind a tree and reappear as a giant wolf. He waited for the guy reaction, hoping that it would be an exciting one.

Daylon had been walking around the Quileute village, as she had nothing else to do that day. She didn't want to stay at home with her uncle Billy, and she had no idea at all of where her cousin Jacob was. She kind of wished she did. She also wished she she knew where her imprint, Mason was. She hated that she didn't get to see him today, but she didn't let it bother her. She knew she'd see him soon, and she didn't let it bother her. She just kept walking, her black curls tied in a loose ponytail. She was wearing her signature look of blue jean shorts, a dark blue Areopostal t-shirt with light blue Converse. While she walked, something made her stop abruptly. She sensed a former pack member..Colin, but beyond that, she sensed another shifter, but it wasn't a pack shifter. She readjusted her course, ready to find out what the hell was going on. She knew that no one would be happy that a non-pack member shifter was in wolf territory. She sure wasn't. Daylon didn't take kindly to people outside of the tribe and pack she grew up with trespassing on the land she was raised on. She made her way to the scene, seeing Colin his wolf form, and then she turned to the other shifter. "Well..Hello there. I see that we have a visitor." She took one look at Colin and then sighed. She knew she couldn't tell this man to buzz off. She wasn't the pack leader. That was her cousin. She wouldn't take his job. She was only 16 and she knew she wasn't ready and she didn't even know if she'd ever want that position. "I see your a shifter. Well, my names Daylon Black. I see you met Colin already. He's not the only shifter here. As I'm one my self." She stopped here. She didn't want to blow everything, knowing this was an outsider. Word Count: 322 Outfit: HERE!

"Son of a bitch..." he said out loud, he wasn't one to curse but. Well damn. His father was wrong. Now Marcus wondered whether that was because his father simply didn't know or was hiding something.
"I cant believe it." he wasn't alone... That thought rang over and over in his head. He wasn't the only shifter in the world. He had so many questions but didn't know how to ask them. The man was a wolf now and as far as Marcus knew there wasn't a way for him to reply. When his father was teaching him to shapeshift they only ever communicated when he was human again.
A second later he heard a disturbance from the woods beside him and turned to see a girl walk out.
"I see your a shifter. Well, my names Daylon Black. I see you met Colin already. He's not the only shifter here. As I'm one my self." she said, there was more than one of them here?
"There's more than just one? What is this the village of shapeshifters?" he asked, an entire village... And he had just randomly stumbled upon upon them. Something about what Colin said earlier still rang in his mind.
"Um, Daylon... What did he mean by blood suckers? My father used to tell me legends of the 'dark ones' who drove my people from their home, of how they were the walking dead who destroyed everything they touched. Are these the same?"

Colin was quite happy in his wolf form. The hawk shifter expression was funny as hell and priceless. He stood from his previous position on his haunches, and stretched leisurely. Then, he padded over to Daylon. He considered her for a moment, and then licked her face softly. Then, he poked her on her shoulder gently with his muzzle, and stepped backwards. He couldn't really smile or express happiness, so he figured that his time as a wolf was up. He ran over to the tree he had phased from, and phased back into his human form. He pulled on his sweats, and went back to where Daylon and the hawk shifter was standing. He knew he smell a familiar scent in the area. So it was Jake’s cousin. Colin didn’t have a problem with her. She was one of the nice wolves, well compare to Leah, Daylon was a sugar queen.
"So nice of you to join us, D. “Then, he grinned at her. "Well…” he turn his attention back to the hawk shape shifter, "I hope I didn’t freak you out too much, bud." The smirk on his face didn’t fade away. "Right, blood suckers…" He said, “Sorry about that. I don’t think you know much about what humans call ‘vampires.’ Here their known as ‘The Cold Ones’ they have so many name for blood suckers but by the end of the day that what leeches do. They suck blood." He wonders if he was dropping the bomb on this poor shifter. Maybe he was giving out way to much information in a short amount of time. For Pete’s sake, the guy just learned he wasn’t only shape shifter in the world! Now, Colin felt guilty and grateful all at the same time. He felt bad for the guy; he didn’t know more people like himself. Colin was grateful to be with Sam and his friends, his pack mates. It was thanks to Sam; Colin learned about the supernatural world and found a place in this world.

Daylon just laughed at the familiar nickname and wiped the wolf slobber from her cheek. "Thank you very much, Colin." She turned back to Marcus and sighed. She didn't mind Colin. He was pretty okay, even though she didn't exactly talk to him all that much. She really didn't mix with Sam's pack all that much, but she'd talk to them every once in awhile. Her dark brow, almost black eyes turned toward Marcus. "Are you going to introduce yourself? There's no need to be afraid. Honestly. Unless you make one of us mad..Which I advise you not to do." She was very easy to make mad, and you did not want to make Daylon mad.
She sighed and shot a look at Colin. The look said 'hey you don't want to reveal too much now. He's not one of us.' It was very comical to see Marcus's reaction, but she didn't show she got any joy from it. She wasn't that kind of person. She sighed and covered the arm that had the long and healed but permanent scar on her right arm. She'd gotten that by accident when she got way too close to a mad Paul. She sighed. "Yes..Blood suckers are vampires. Its just we call them different things. Sorry if your at all confused here." She was still very mad that Marcus was on wolf territory. He still was not and would not be one of her or Colin's kind. He was a shifter yes, but not their kind.

As the young girl spoke Marcus got a feeling that she was getting angry at him.
"Right, I suppose proper introductions are in order. My name is Captain Marcus H. Davenport of the Royal Canadian Airforce... Ive been flying with your forces for the month or so and probably am sticking around for awhile. So I've taken to visiting areas in the state. I'm here only by accident. Was thinking to do some beach combing and maybe do some flying." he added that last part reluctantly. After what he'd just found out that probably wasn't a good idea in a town of shifters.
"Vampires?" the idea was ridiculous. But they did fit the description his father gave him. And considering the fact they were all a bunch of people able to turn into animals maybe the idea of Undead blood suckers wasn't too outlandish. "Like Dracula? Weird. Listen, I've got a reservation to spend a couple nights here. Honestly everything you've told me is a bit overwhelming. Maybe we can continue tomorrow? I have allot of questions still," he said before looking at Dayton "If its alright to ask?" He didn't want to make them angry, right now they were the only source of info he had and he didn't want to
His reservation was for a small motel on the shoreline and by the looks of things it was going to get dark soon soon.
"Maybe I should leave you my number for later?"

Talk about an introduction, this guy Marcus sure knew how to give one. Colin had to admit he was profoundly impressed. A pilot from a ‘Royal Canadian Air force,’ how cannot a person be impressed? He let out a long whistle after Marcus' introduction and looks down at Daylon who was giving him a funny look. He nudged her gently with his elbow, “Come on, and lighten up.” He looks back at Marcus with wide eyes. So Marcus never heard of blood suckers either. Damn, this guy was pretty much left in the dark about the supernatural world. Now, Colin felt really bad for him, “Sorry about dropping the bomb on you like that.” He looks sincerely apologetic. He turns his attention back into Daylon. She was his pack mate, therefore he already consider her a sister. He was like that with everyone in his pack. It was almost a natural reaction and instinct for him to immediately care about those people who happened to get involved with his pack as well as his other ‘extended family’. A loving and caring family. They weren’t just members of a group that was trying to protect the tribe as well as other people, they were brothers and sisters. The eighteen year old treated them as such. Every member of his pack was his brothers and sister that he never had. He didn’t see anything wrong with it and besides, with them already hanging out most of the time, treating each other as siblings would be inevitable. Or so he thought. “I don’t think his a threat to our pack, besides he seems safe to share info with him. I’m not getting any bad vibes from him. He just seems…” He trailed off and looks at Marcus, “lost.” He nodded his head, seeing no harm in taking the man’s number. “Sure, we can take your number.”

Daylon sighed. She knew she needed to calm down. She was not acting as she should in this situation and she knew it. "I'm sorry, Captain Marcus. I am just not used to strangers." This was totally true. She tried to stay away from strangers as much as she could. She looked back at Colin and nodded in an understanding way, and she finally calmed down and relaxed, but only slightly. She kept her self on the edge slightly, just in case. It was instinct to stay on edge. She couldn't help it, and she hated it. This is why she rarely had friends outside of the pack, and her imprint Mason.
She once again put her hand over her scar and looked down slightly. She was trying to recompose her self so she didn't give this dude an impression that she was just being rude and unwelcoming. "I'm also sorry that you've been in the dark for so long. But now you know your not the only shifter in this world." She wondered if she should give him a demonstration like Colin did, but she wasn't sure if she'd give him a heart attack or something. The guy already seemed completely freaked by what he's just learned.
"We can take your number." She sighed and flipped her black curls over her shoulder so the were hanging down in the loose ponytail down her back. She wasn't exactly sure why he would give them his number but she didn't question it. "Again,I'm sorry, Captain Marcus. Enjoy your stay, but I tell you this. Please be careful. The others might not enjoy your visit. There's no way to tell." By them she was referring to her cousin and the other wolves. She really didn't know how they would react to this.

"No need to apologize Daylon... If I had some stranger walk into my home without being invited id be a bit on edge" he was still wondering what they were meaning when they spoke of scent. Maybe is was their animal form that augmented certain senses. He knew his vision was insanely good... Which was part of the reason he was such a good fighter pilot. Stealth aircraft may not show up on radar but they were not invisible to the naked eye.
A few minutes later he headed off to the motel, having given the two his number and asking if they could meet sometime tomorrow. With that he made his way into his car before driving off towards the shoreline. The whole way there he considered what the boy had told him. He'd have to tell his father he realized, not just about the fact that there were other shifters but that the Dark Ones from the legends did actually exist. His father and mother were now living in a small rural village in Russia so it may take some time to talk to them again.
After making sure to put everything away he decided to take a nice long walk on the beach. He walked alone for awhile thinking on the days events before noticing he was alone. With a smile he realized this was as good a time as any to do some flying so after taking off his clothes he hid them away and shifted.
It had been awhile since he done this but at the same time is was so great to let the hawk within out, he felt his arms widen and sprout wings while his nose and mouth seemed to merge into a beak. After a second he was the hawk again and with a cry of joy launched himself into the sky.
