Mason quietly made his way through the woods, it was late at night and he had to sneak out of the house after everyone had fallen asleep. He hated having to deceive his parents but after so many days missing there was only one place left to search for Ash. Mason only hoped that he was okay.
Before leaving he sent a text to Kenny, he had been trying to avoid his brother. His return and revelation of what he was had put Mason on edge and now that Ash was missing he was hoping Kenny didn't have anything to do with it.
It was a cold night, as is expected so late in the year. Mason normally wasn't disturbed by the cold but that combined with him moving through the forest alone at night was making him strangely nervous. The moon was out so at least he wasn't blind.
After a few minutes of trekking he arrived at the place and sat down beside the lake. Everything was quiet and for a moment he enjoyed the silence of the nighttime forest. Everything had been fine in the family until Kenny had disappeared. Mason understood his reasons but still wasn't happy to see his parents so sad. He could never hate his brother, however he did hate what he was... The vampires, the ones who hurt their family. Maybe Mason was wrong and Ash was alright. Either way this discussion had to happen.

Pain. Hurt. Suffering. Guilt. These were only a few things Kenny had been feeling for the past week or so. He did put a mask on his face around others though to hide what he was truly feeling, which is why he had been avoiding Jasper who didn't like him anyway...so it really didn't matter..
Kenny has been sitting on a low branch close to down town Forks relaxing. His relaxing ended, however, when his brother Mason sent him a text message reading, "Kenny, we need to talk... Its about Ash... Somethings come up." He knew exactly what he wanted to talk to him about...Ash...
Kenny had been avoiding Mason as much as possible so he didn't have to tell him another one of his brothers was a vampire. He thought about not going at all, but that would leave Mason out in the cold.
Second son of theirs to go missing...Sighing, he knew where Mason would be, the lake; he jumped off the branch and started running. Ash wasn't the only thing he was hiding from his brother...he was hiding the fact he had a girlfriend too...He hid it from Ash until he was changed and then it didn't matter. Ana was a newborn and not telling Mason seemed to be a good way of protecting him.
He stopped running with a sudden stop when Mason come into view. "Yes?" was all he said. He didn't even come close to his brother, he was standing a good thirty feet away because he knew how Mason felt about him...fear...hate...disappointment.

"Yes?" Mason blinked at the sound of his brothers voice. They had not spoken that much since Mason found out about his brothers... Transformation. He looked over and saw a figure standing in the darkness. Even with the moonlight he could barely make out his brothers features.
"There you are.. Listen, the past few days I've been all over the state, and... Well Ash has gone missing.. Ive looked everywhere and cant find a single sign of him. I was wondering..." Mason sighed, holding back from finishing his sentence... "I was wondering if you knew anything... If you might have had anything to do with it. I understand he was with you before he disappeared. Mom and Dad are hysterical and, well Bonitas... Bonitas not taking it well at all." it was true, most of the household was frantic with worry over Ash. Again it angered Mason that his family had to feel such pain, it was similar to when Kenny disappeared himself. They were still hurting from that.
"You don't need to stand so far away Kenny. I wouldn't try to hurt you.. Not that i could anyway. I'm your younger brother and you know I cant ever hate you..."

Kenny listened as Mason spoke, it was exactly what he knew it would be. He wasn't really sure what to tell him because he couldn't stand lying and also, he didn't want to see Mason's reaction to the truth...What was left? Walking away? He knew that Mason thinks he ate him. He sighed. Now that he was at a loss for words, he just stood there like a stick in the mud. "You don't need to stand so far away Kenny. I wouldn't try to hurt you.. Not that i could anyway. I'm your younger brother and you know I cant ever hate you..."
With a soft breath he walked closer to Mason, slowly. Once infront of him he only shook his head. "I..." He just couldn't seem to speak. It was to hard. He blamed himself for becoming a vampire in the first place even though it was clearly not his fault and the fact that the family was now suffering two losses...he hoped the parents wouldn't go suicidal. Kenny would go completely pysco if that would be the ending outcome. Either way, it would end up being pain.
"I didn't eat him if that's what you're wondering." He looked into his brothers eyes so he knew for sure Kenny hadn't had him as a meal. It was dark out but Kenny was close enough for Mason to see his facial expressions. "He is fine...And whether you want to admit it to yourself or not...you do hate me." Usually Kenny begged to spend some time with Mason, but as of right now he didn't want to be around him. He turned around and began to walk off. If he didn't leave now...all the pent up emotions would soon arise.

So much has happened since he was turned. But thanks to the friendly Cullens, Ash was able to learn how to control himself. He was not cure yet though. He had a lot to learn. He had ran away from everyone one once he tried to attack an odd human and Kenny had to pry him off the man. Ash had fled to the deepest part of the forest so no one would find him. He was already upset with himself. He had tried to call Edward but he forgot, you get no reception out here this far...And that meant he couldn't call Kenny or Mason...Or his twin sister...But he didn't really care right now. He didn't want help that badly. He wanted human blood more than any thing right now. And it was killing him a little bit more that he was out here...And surrounded by prey....But he just couldn't make himself kill. He hated the word kill. And yet he was ready to kill that human. But luckily his brother was able to stop him from making a terrible mistake...And that was why Ash had ran away....He was scared to kill....He was scared of what he had become....But he did not blame Kenny at all. He knew why he had done what he had. It was an act of bravery what he had done....Ash thought so at least....He just now wishes this was not what we wanted to be...

Mason cringed at his brothers words, he knew what he meant... Ash Hao was one of them, a vampire. As his brother walked off Mason felt a wave of sadness wash over him, but he never cried... Ash was alive, in one way or another. That was relieving. Mason took a step forward and placed a hand on his brothers shoulder ignoring its cold feeling.
"Kenny, don't leave, I don't hate you. Angry yes... But I could never hate. I'm sure you had a good reason to... Change Ash... Tell me, I don't want to be kept in the dark anymore... What happened?" he tried to keep his anger down... right now it wouldn't help. How was he going to explain this to Mom and Dad? To everyone?
"I know you didn't do this without a good reason, now tell me. I want you to stop shutting me out. Half my siblings are now living lives in the shadows and I never see them anymore. I need to understand."

Kenny stopped walking when Masons hand touched his shoulder. He didn't want to talk right now; couldn't Mason wait to do this on another day? No, humans are so impatient. Then again, he knew if he was Mason he would be wanting answers and fast...Still, he didn't want to do this right now. "Kenny, don't leave, I don't hate you. Angry yes... But I could never hate. I'm sure you had a good reason to... Change Ash... Tell me, I don't want to be kept in the dark anymore... What happened?" He gritted his teeth quietly. Mason needed to be in the dark as he put it. He didn't need to know much, in fact, he isn't supposed to know about vampires at all.
"You shouldn't even know I exist. You need to be kept in the dark. I'm shutting you out for good reason." Kenny knew he was giving his brother a tough love, and he wasn't even facing him. He hadn't moved...he was a statue. Finally he said, "Ash got hurt so I....he fine now. You won't be able to see him for a while."
Kenny turned to face his brother. "Be mad if you want. Be angry. Be disgusted. Hate me like I hate myself. Understand that I feel so much guilt that it's overpowering sometimes. His vampire emotions were going a little high. He didn't like letting these emotions come out when his family is around...he tried calming himself, but he didn't want to be in the dark anymore so he will just have to deal with it. Let him have a taste to see that he would rather be in the dark "I tried telling Ash he didn't want this. He didn't realize it until he was one and I.... I did this to him." Kenny wasn't breathing. "Ash tells me not to feel the way I do that it he would have done the same. Either way, our parents would have lost him...there was no way around it." He turned around once again and walked over to a tree...he wanted to punch it... It would calm him down but it would scare Mason, he held back.
Kennys eyes were black now. "You don't want to be in the dark, fine. But don't expect me to hold back anymore." Tough love was still there...Mason would soon find that out.

"If the situation is as bad as you say then you were right to change him. Id rather have two brothers I cant see often than two dead, i just don't know what I'm going to tell mom and dad... But I'm sure it will work out." Mason replied, he could see his brother was not in the mood to talk much so he decided it was probably for the best if he left now.
"Take care Kenny. Your obviously not in the right mood to talk so ill be off. I probably wont see you for awhile, I've been accepted to Washington State University... I start in January... I only how Bonita will be able to care for mom and dad by herself." Maybe he should delay until next year... He had been expecting Ash to still be around, now these plans were sent off kilter.

Was he trying to make Kenny feel guilty? Because if so it was working. At the moment he felt about an inch tall. "So that's it? I pour my heart out and you just going to walk away?" He couldn't believe his brother was just going to walk away like that. Mason didn't seem to even care his brother was in pain and hurting...It was obvious by the way Kenny was talking that there was so much more behind it.
"Fine, leave. You haven't cared for a long time now." Kenny slid his back down the tree and took his fingers into his curly hair, facing the ground with his elbows propped up on his legs. He tried crying...but knew he could not.

Kenny's words caused Mason to pause... He was starting to get annoyed now..
"You think I don't care? I cared the moment you disappeared. So what do you want me to do? Come over there and comfort you? You my freakin older brother! I looked up to you and you were the role model for me to look up to." This whole situation was completely alien to him.
"Now I have to go home and lie to everyone about Ash. Lie directly to mom and dad knowing that Ash is somewhere in the woods acting like a bloodsucking monster. Sometimes I wish you never came back. At least when we thought you were dead things were simpler. Now I have to lie about everything and now Ash is gone also." He knew he didn't mean what he said but Mason was getting angry. All his problems from the past few years were bubbling up to the surface. Mason turned to Kenny, his face showing his disgust for his brother before the moment.
Then as fast as they had come the anger disappeared.. "Kenny... I'm sorry, I didn't mean any of that. God how can I be so stupid."

Ash sat there all alone in the woods. He looked down at the ground as he could hear running water near him there was a little running stream. He just didn't care about any thing at the moment. He usually loved nature. But right now he didn't care. He knew his brother was talking with Mason...He would be there with them, but he was so scared he would lash out at his brother and attack. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if he had done that to Mason. He sighed. As he looked down. He knew his brother would be coming back soon. He also knew that Kenny would be able to track him. Only Kenny would know how to find him now. He felt some thing in his pocket just then...And pulled out his wallet...As he opened it up to the little photo album he had in it he gave a sad expression and threw his wallet on the ground as he placed his arms on his knees and laid his head on top of them. He wanted to cry so bad...But he knew it was not possible. Why did he wish for this? He couldn't eat, he couldn't sleep...He couldn't even cry...He couldn't see his mom or dad or sister or Mason....He hated himself for wanting some thing he knew nothing about....And now he knew. And he wanted to wish it away as badly as he wanted it. But he knew it was not going to go away. And he could not kill himself. He also knew what a hard time Mason might have been having when Kenny was telling him the truth about this. And Ash was sorry he could not be there for his brother...

Masons words cut Kenny. He couldn't even look at his face now, and even through the apology he couldn't help but feel that what he said was true. "I wish I died that night." He said simply, finally moving his his head up to look at him. He stood up slowly and sat on the low branch so they didn't have to crane their necks to look at each other. "So, I agree with you. I wish that women would have just killed me. Then none of us would have to go through anything expect the loss of me. I may be your older brother but one thing I've learned through all of this is age doesn't have meaning when it comes to family. When we need each other we should be there." Kenny paused for a moment. He was now speaking in a calm voice, if it wasn't for Masons hurtful words he would have stayed on the ground until he would be out of sight.
"I'm going to give you a choice Mason. You're the oldest brother in the family now...the only brother. Either tell mum and dad the truth...or don't. I know you want the pain and suffering to end and the only way is for the truth to come out." Kenny couldn't believe what he had just said. He knew to outcome of humans knowing is death or transformation depending on the situation but he also knew his parents...and they wouldn't say anything. Mason and Ash have been safe for near a year and half now.
Kenny breathed in for a moment then sniffed again. "Ash is around. I think it's best if you go soon." Ash wasn't to close but still, he needed to protect his brother.

Mason stood there for a few moments processing what his brother had said. Telling everyone was a very tempting idea. No more lying, no more having to worry. Maybe they could even be a family again. Kenny mentioning ash being nearby didn't really worry Mason. Well not much, he had a hard time imagining his little brother as some kind of voracious threat.
Turning around he saw that his words had hurt Kenny, Mason didn't like what he had said but there was some truth to it. "You realize that if I do tell them your going to have to come with me? I cant tell them all this... Tell them both their sons are still alive and now are superhuman vampires.. Ill look like a nut!"
"And I'm not keen on telling them either... You told me if anyone really found out we could all be killed. I'm fine with keeping it a secret if everyone remains alive."he finished with a sigh. He was just frustrated by this whole ordeal. He wanted it to end!
