((This was between the time he told Brooke he needed some space so you know the time period^^))

It was another lonely night for Edward as he walked in the streets of Seattle, WA....He was not making himself stand out though among the humans. He wanted to spend time alone. And this was the ony way for him to do so. Since he joined the Voluri, he's not been able to stop working. It was amazing that he had a lot of time with Brooke to put their relationship on hold for a while. But it was getting to the point to where he was getting love sick for her so badly it was aching.

Some thing made Edward walk away from the human crowd to the docks. It was night...Dark, cold and foggy. But he was dressed in his school clothes for that tonight he was trying to act like a teenager. But some thing was making him leave the human scene as he walked the docks and just stopped for a moment to look out the at the water. And he sighed...He was concerned if he should take his relationship with Brooke any further or not....He loved her dearly. And he had asked her already in marriage...was he pushing everything way too quickly for him and Brooke? Well, Esme told him he needed to get to know more people. Falling in love though? He was in love there was no question. After trying to prove to Bella that he was in love with her and would never leave her again, was nothing but a lie to him....He did love Bella but she apparently loved Jacob more. And he left her to be with him instead...That was the main reason he left...The Volturi....If he didn't give Bella up, they would have killed her...And if he leaves them, they would kill her....He was grounded...

And what he did not know was that he was going to meet another Volturi member this very night.....

[OLIVIA THORNE]

The air was chilled as Olivia walked down the streets of Seattle. On any other given night she would be found in the comfort of her own home with her little Gracie. But no, tonight it was all about business. A new vampire had joined the ranks of the Volturi guard and it was her job to greet them properly. To the other leader's though, this would not include a surprise visit in the middle of a human populated city at night. But Olivia was not like the old geezer's that sat in those gold painted thrones all day giving orders, no she had places to go and people to see. She was not about to sit around and let the new stranger take their time to introduce themselves. Instead she would go to him...on her time.

Her order's were clear and true. Introduce and get to know the new member of the guard. She had not heard alot about the vampire from Aro or the other leaders. They failed to give her details as to why he was such great importance to them. But the few things she did learn about him and his 'family', she didn't like what she heard. To be honest she couldn't see what was so special about him. The last thing she heard about him he was dating a human, a human than also loved a shifter. Now THAT was interesting to Olivia. Her heels clicked against the pavement as she steadily made her way down the empty streets. Her long black cloak covered her body like a blanket, the hood rested loosely on the crown of her head. Close to the docks she could smell the cold salty air that filled her nostrils. It reminded her of home back in New Orleans, the large ocean port city that resided in the deep South. A sweet aroma soon overpowered the salty scent, letting Olivia know that she was close. A tall and pale man came into view, his gaze was concentrated on the water to the right of her. She knew he would be here, just like he probably knew another member of the guard would be showing themselves to him on this starless night. The sound of her heels on the pavement came to an end just a few inches behind Edward, their shoulders perfectly aligned with each other. Her crimson eyes scanned the ocean line, gazing into the vast darkness in front of her. But even without a full moon to shine it's silver rays on the waters surface, her owl like eyes could see as if it was day. "Such a beautiful night out tonight...but yet no stars." the breath from her empty body escaped her lips as she spoke, her tone hushed but cold like the air that surrounded them. "What a pity."

Edward watched the water as though it was day time. Because that's how he saw it. Even in the darkness...He heard her voice, her heels on the pavement...And sighed when she walked up and stood right next to him. He didn't want any company right now....

"Too bad..." He replied to her comment about the starless sky....He knew she was a member of the Volturi...It was plain to see that. Edward sighed and looked down then. He was not in the mood to have any company let alone a Volturi...But now that she was here he could not be rude to her. She was a bigger rank than he was obviously. He just started....

If Edward had looked at her from the get go he would know whom she was. But he could not look her in the eyes. As his were golden brown...Hers were redden...But he had his fill not to long ago before he came here so he was safe in the city at the moment. Unless some one triggered him in the right place..."Well, I'll see you around...." Edward started to walk away from her....He was not wanting to get to know her...If this is who he thinks she is...Then no...He'd rather avoid her....

[OLIVIA THORNE]

Edward was the first and only vampire she knew that had more problems than she did. Even though it was obvious he did not want to be with the Volturi, unlike Olivia, that still didn't mean he couldn't atleast try to associate with them. If she was going to have to work beside him then she wanted to make sure she didn't have to watch her back with this one. Olivia was slightly on edge about the meeting, she had heard so many depressing things about him she wondered if he could even open up and come out of his usual quiet state. "Too bad..." she heard the male vampire say.

She could tell he did not want to be there, with her at the moment. She couldn't blame him, she didn't want to be their either. But yet she had enough respect for Aro to do as he says and to bite her tongue while doing it. .."Well, I'll see you around...." She watched as he turned his heel to walk away. Was he really that stupid to just walk away from someone in the middle of a conversation or did he just forget his manners when he became a vampire? Olivia stood still but raised her hand and placed it on his shoulder, stopping him in his tracks. She didn't need to use her powers on him, she could hold him still with just her strength alone. But her grip was not tight on his shoulder, only a gesture for him to cease movement. "You know, as far as I'm concerned you don't have any where else to be at the moment. So why don't you just relax. I'm not here to fight with you tonight, I just want to talk." she said softly as if she was singing it to him, enticing him to stay.

Edward didn't believe that for one minute. That she just wanted to talk to him. He knew who she was by the way. And that was why he wanted to leave suddenly. He thought if he stayed she would take her anger out on him since was the closest thing to Jasper than any one else...Yes, Edward knew. It sucked being a mind reader. But her thoughts flooded his own the minute she walked up to him...

She held on to him from behind then as he stopped. Would it kill him to get to know her? If only she would not be so angry at him then he might consider it. After all he was not the one that she should be mad at if it gets out of hand. He knew who to call any way if it did...But that was for Edward to know. Emmett made a small promise to Edward. That if any thing happened to him while he was with the Volturi and Edward could not get out on his own. Emmett had his back...((I'm just gonna say they made that promise already^^))....Jasper was not the best choice to make such a promise to. Since he was still learning how to control his blood thirst. Still that's Olivia brought Jasper back to Edward's mind. How could she not...When Edward knew what happened to her...It was sad really. That one of his fellow coven members did this...But, none of them were perfect. But at least most of them could control their lust for blood...

"My lady...Do you really want to talk to me? Cause I'm not going to trick him and make him come here if you want revenge on my brother...." Yeah he read her mind right off the bat. That was one of the reasons he wanted to leave....He couldn't put Jasper in danger. It was better this way, that he left well enough alone....That he left Olivia well enough alone...He was not gonna get into the middle of this...Or he was trying not to.....

"My lady...Do you really want to talk to me? Cause I'm not going to trick him and make him come here if you want revenge on my brother...."

[/i] Her eyes slightly widened as she now knew why he was so hesitant towards her. It wasn't just from the fact that she was a Volturi guard..no it was more personal than that. Yes Olivia still held a grudge against the newly vegetarian vampire, she knew that his new blood source was not to his choosing. Atleast not the Jasper she knew. But after a while, even she knew when enough was enough. After years of searching and killing she couldn't wait for the day when she would come face to face with him again. But to her surprise..when she actually did come across him on the streets of Port Angeles, her passion to kill him had already faded. Deep in her heart she knew he wasn't to blame for her brother's death, he had no choice just as Olivia had. But with the animal inside her it was hard to let it go, even if she truly wanted to. Letting out a sign she removed her grip from his shoulder and placed her hands back to her sides. "I know you know everything. Those are not my intentions at all, I have nothing to hide from you. But also if you have read me good enough you will know that my rage has not been what it used to be. No..I have grown quite tired of wasting my life trying to avenge my brothers death," she let out a small laugh. "He would of been a horrible vampire anyway." she said, referring to her brother. "If I really wanted your brother...this would not be the way I would do it." she stated as she moved her gaze back to the waterfront. "Aro's orders are clear. You can not be trusted and he wanted me...to make sure you stay true to your word. Go ahead....read my mind if you don't believe me."[/blockquote][/blockquote]

He looked her in the eyes and could tell that she was telling the truth. He backed away from her only inches away. He did like his space.

"He would of been a horrible vampire anyway." "If I really wanted your brother...this would not be the way I would do it." "Aro's orders are clear. You can not be trusted and he wanted me...to make sure you stay true to your word. Go ahead....read my mind if you don't believe me."

Edward smiled a side smile as he heard her say that they didn't trust him. They had every right not to trust him. But he would not go out and give them a reason not to...He was not like that. He did as she asked as well too and read her mind. As he looked right into her eyes....He saw and heard what Aro told her...And a scoff came then from Edward's lips..."I'm sorry I doubted you. But he's right, I can't be trusted it seems...What were you doing out tonight any way?" He was trying to lighten the conversation now that he knew what she was really thinking. Which was not even considering on hurting Jasper. There was no anger in her voice either when she said his name.

Maybe it would not kill Edward to get to know some of the Volturi members. No they drink human blood! How could he get to know any of them at this point?! All he wanted right now was have it all before Bella left him for Jacob...He wanted that back more than any thing. A vision of him and Bella laying in the meadow entered his mind just then. It was a quick image. But it was there none the less. That was all Edward wanted. Was to keep her a human til her heart stopped beating...Unfortunately nothing happened the way he wanted....Like Olivia...They were sorta the same....Then again it would snow in July before Edward would consider a Volturi his friend....

"I'm sorry I doubted you. But he's right, I can't be trusted it seems...What were you doing out tonight any way?"

[/i] he scoffed, finally seeing her true intentions. Even with her violent history Olivia still had the capacity to hold compassion in her still heart, giving her the willpower to adopt her little Gracie. The mood was changed once he changed the subject, something Olivia appreciated from him. She wasn't in the mood to fight tonight...well..not with another vampire atleast. She had already fed before she came to the city, but didn't mind having a late night snack. She looked over to the golden eyed vampire and signed. Olivia couldn't imagine why anyone would feed off of an animal when they have a perfectly good food source around them. She would never admit it to anyone, but she always had a soft spot for animals. Even in her glory days she couldn't submit to killing an innocent animal. Human's were a different story though, to Olivia they all were guilty.

"Tonight? The usual same ol' same ol'."[/b] a small grin crossed her face. "Why arn't you with your new girlfriend...or fiance as I recently heard. Don't new love bird's normally stay together twenty four seven." she said with a small twinkle in her eye. Word got around fast between the Volturi, it wasn't hard for Olivia to find out the right information. The guard were the Volturi's eyes and ears, sometimes even their speaker is necessary. But even with her orders, she couldn't help but ask on a personal level. She was interested in the fact that a vampire would love a human, a clumsy and confused one at that. But then also love another one of his kind at the same time. Not to mention it was the woman she had became friends with a while back. She was happy for her friend, but also was concerned that his feelings for the Bella girl would end up getting in the way.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Edward looked up at what she said about Brooke. No doubt she knew about him and Brooke. It was not hard to guess how she found out either. "No doubt how you found out. We would if..." He stopped. An image of Bella entered his mind....He was not about to tell her that this was all because of Bella. But Olivia knew about Bella. Every Volturi member did. But it still bothered Edward that Bella was the one making his life complicated still. Even not being with her....There was some thing still there for Bella. But not a lot. And that little bit was the problem. Edward would never be able to move on if he still had the Isabella Swan on his mind....That is what is stopping him...That is why he is not with Brooke right now.Edward turned away from Olivia now as he walked back to the railing and hooked his fingers around the railing tightly...There was so much on his mind right now he didn't give a damn what Olivia had really had planned out for this evening...He was lost and confused...And Olivia was probably not the best one to talk to....

His voice was filled with discontent has he moved from his spot from just beside her to the railing across from them. It was clear that he was not in the best state of mind, which only fed her suspicions towards him even more. Why would he join the Volturi at such a vulnerable time as this? Did he think that by becoming a guard he would be able to escape his problems? She of course wanted her opinions to be wrong, even though she wouldn't admit it. "No doubt how you found out. We would if..." If what? There were so many possibilities as to what if was. Did he mean the Volturi? The Cullen's or even Brooke herself. Or was it that Bella girl and her wolf man that plagued Edward's mind like a disease. Yes...it had to be that. She could see the hopelessness in his eyes, in his movements and his speech. There was a struggle going on in the mind of Edward Cullen, a internal battle between two loves. Olivia knew that feeling all too well only she loved two vampires instead of a human, but this was not her time to wallow in self pity. It was his. Olivia couldn't help but feel a bit sorry for the lad even if she didn't show it. "If that human still didn't hold a firm grip on you're mind. I know the feeling all to well." she finished his sentence as she walked towards the railing beside him, placing her cold hands on the steel railing as well. Her eyes followed the waves that crashed up on the concrete wall below them, the swooshing sound of the water bounced around in her head. "It feel's like your own personal hell on earth doesn't it? You're heart, as dead and black as it may be, can still be torn into pieces and handed out like like little love notes with the yes and the no to circle at the bottom. You may get a yes or you may get a no. But what you don't expect is for two of those notes to come back as yes's. There's nothing else in this world like true love...but to love two at the same time...that is something a whole lot harder to overcome." she trailed off into her own thoughts for a moment. Just because she was often viewed as a cold hearted vampire, didn't mean she was completely clueless. She knew that strong humanistic feelings still lingered even after death.

Edward lowered his head...As his fingers never let go of the railing. He let out a loud exhale even though he did not need to....Yes that was pretty much it. It was so obvious that she knew. The whole Volturi Coven knew for crying out loud...Bella was indeed the reason for his joining them in the first place. To keep her safe from her own death...That last night with her would always come back to him as she was so mentioned some times....His touch on her skin, her lips against his muscles....He made love with her to wish her away....He thought Brooke would help him forget about her....But nope....Even his fiance was not strong enough....Edward shook his head as he saw Isabella's smiling at him in his mind in the middle of that meadow....

Truer words were never spoken. She was right on the dot with how he was really feeling. The secret h had to keep from his future wife, was that he was very much still in love with Bella Swan...This was indeed hard to even put into words for him. But she hit right on the dot. Perfectly. As though she was the one reading his mind instead of him reading hers.....But she was the same as he was..A vampire. Her sense of her surroundings were ten times the ravage human.....

"You know what...Just stop acting like you understand what I'm going through. Cause no one does..." That was a lie of course. He was just so not in his right mind at the moment. Two loves to deal with hanging like a very thin thread on his finger...And it was shouting "Pick me!! No Pick!!" It was making him sick to his stomach....

Her words hit him true and hard. She could tell by the harshness in his voice. The sound of a sudden snap floated in the air from her neck turning to look at him with with cold, dead eyes. "You know what...Just stop acting like you understand what I'm going through. Cause no one does..." "You know nothing!" she snarled as her irritation started to bubble like a witches brew inside her. Her head snapped in his direction quicker than a human could blink. How dare he tell her what she did and did not know. As far as she was concerned he was still a child..he sure as hell was acting like one. "Do you really believe that you are the only being on this Earth that has gone through this? No. And I'm damn sure that you're not the only vampire to have fallen in love...human or not." she paused, her demonic eyes seemed to pierce his hard porcelain skin like a laser beam. "Now I know it may not seem like it but I do have compassion for other's. I can feel, bend and even break. Just because we are vampire's doesn't give us any special treatment when it comes to such complicated things like love. We are blessed with eternal life and incredible powers...but yet we are cursed to feel the world around us at a level no other being could comprehend. This may be a difficult step in your long life...but trust me...it won't be the worst." Her words were harsh. but they were true. Olivia had lived long enough to know all she needed to know when it came to such matters in life. She started to feel sorry for Brooke. She was a smart and beautiful woman..how could she pick someone so messed up? Maybe she thought she could mend his broken heart by giving him her's but Olivia strongly feared that Brooke may have gotten in too deep with something she thought she could handle.

This may be a difficult step in your long life...but trust me...it won't be the worst." She was right about one more thing. That this was not his first difficult thing in his life. But it was the most challenging up until now that is...Two beauties in his life was enough to deal with. But if they both wanted him at the same time that would make things ten times harder. Especially one being a vampire.....Why did Brooke even give him the time or day to be with him when he was the one that screwed up lives...? He would never understand what Brooke ever saw in him...But she saw some thing and now she was his future wife...."Olivia....Don't make a fuss over some one that was never meant to have a happy life...You..I can see having just that.....And don't worry about Brooke either....I won't let her get hurt....If that's the only thing I can manage then nothing will stop me from that...I still don't know what she sees in me....She's way out of my league...But she loves me none the less...And then there's Bella...." He hated this....But what she said made him wake up a little and be a little open hearted towards her....He hated talking about Bella. But Bella yes he was still in love with now. And this was driving him crazy! Why was talking about Bella so hard for him...? He felt like he was cheating or some thing on Brooke when ever he mentioned Bella or even thought about her....He wanted to speak about his entire problem...It was like when ever he thought or mentioned Bella he would get sick like a dog or some thing....What was happening to him? Was he that much in love with Bella still? What was wrong with him....? "There's....Bella...." He coughed just then...What the hell?!! Did being away from her hurt him this much?! It got so bad that he had to lean over the railing...As he held on to the railing tightly.....Well at least he was not alone tonight. The love he made to her stung his skin..((But not really^^ XD))....He remembered everything....He even remembered when he....Nah...He couldn't have...There's no way in hell for that to happen.....

"Olivia....Don't make a fuss over some one that was never meant to have a happy life...You..I can see having just that.....

[/i] A small chuckle escaped her lips at his statement. Olivia's life wasn't a walk in the park either. In fact she thought his life was a piece of cake compared to her situatuion. He loved two women but had the advantage that one of them had already moved on into a different relatioship. Bella had seemed to move on with little effort at all and Edward was still suffering from the illness that came from it. Olivia on the other hand was finding an even harder time trying to decide who she wanted to be with, both men still wanted her affection. "And don't worry about Brooke either....I won't let her get hurt....If that's the only thing I can manage then nothing will stop me from that...I still don't know what she sees in me....She's way out of my league...But she loves me none the less...And then there's Bella...." A sliver of breath took shelter within her empty lungs as if they were doing what they were meant to do. Even though he said he vowed to never hurt Brooke, little did he know he was already playing the game. It was always Bella with him, she was like a disease that plagued his already dead body and Brooke was the antidote. But Edward, being a hardheaded male, refused the treatment and instead would suffer with the pain. Only this time Brooke would also suffer like he did. "But Edward...you already setting your relationship up for disaster. Your fighting and concentrating on all your feelings for the human ...instead of just letting her let her go. She takes shelter in your mind every second of the day, and it doesn't take a mind reader to know who your thinking about. I see what that girl does to you, even if you don't realize it. It's always her...even when your with Brooke. Now I know I am not one to say much...I have fallen for two myself. But you Edward....you know that Bella has moved on and yet you still have yet to do so yourself. You think and ponder on your life before her and you are blind to see that you are already hurting Brooke in a way much worse than anything physical. I know she loves you and she would do anything for you, including being patient with you. But don't you think that it's unfair to her....for her to love and cherish someone that can't even give it back to her 100 percent?" her tone was low and serious for this was not a laughing matter. If it wasn't for her friend's love for this man...Olivia wouldn't even give him the time of day let alone try and help him move on. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

It had to be her poison making him sick. Bella...was obviously hard to get over. Edward hated to admit it, but Olivia was right. He was sick from her toxic rejection that it got to a point to where he just made himself sick over her going on with her life....Which he thought would never happen. He deep down had a little bit of hope for that vision Alice saw of him and Bella running together in the forest and she being immortal like him. That was all a lie....That was some thing was going to happen, but things turned away from that direction. And now things were completely different. Edward was engaged to a beautiful, bright, charming young woman. Some one he was hurting right now without even meaning to. That was another thing Olivia was right about. He said he would not hurt Brooke. But he was right now....As Bella's toxic thoughts burned through his mind.

It got so bad he had turned away from the railing and slid down on the ground. He was extremely messed up. "You're right.....I'm just kidding myself...She's moved on. Why am I still thinking about her?" He wanted nothing more than to just forget Bella completely. But would Olivia have enough pity to even try and help him? Edward didn't know Olivia that well, he knew she did not trust him. None of the Volturi did...Who could blame them? Edward lost their trust. The only one that would most likely trust him fully was Aro...Because he was indeed the one that had made him make a deal Edward really did not want. But now it would not matter. Olivia knew Edward part from Bella and Bella went on with her life with Jacob...What was the point of keeping her safe? Edward was not. He was just still so hung up on her it hurt him like hell....He stood back up on his feet as he did any one would plainly see his emotions were eating him alive....Actually Bella was....So why couldn't he move on and forget about Bella? Some thing would have to happen to make him forget her for good...."She was the first one that showed me love....And now, Brooke....I've gotta get over Bella.....She makes me sick to a point to where it's impossible to see any one else....Brooke is my angel....Rather she thinks she is or not...She's the one I wanna be with more than any thing. But how do you let go....?"
