Life had changed drastically for Riley Mason. For the most part, he kept to himself. Most of the other vampires he ran into were rather... untamed and needed a good beat down. After he had ripped apart the out control newborns... he just couldn't do it anymore. He didn’t feel the same way anymore when killing a newborn that was out of order… He still wanted to go back, and somehow change things so that he could have fun, go to parties, be young and never meet Victoria. Now he had eternity to do just that, but it didn't seem good enough for him. He slid into a brand new looking truck, just stolen down the road, into an empty parking lot to the warehouse he had also found since coming to Seattle, Washington. Shutting the engine off, he pushed the door open and stepped out of the truck, liking the silence that lingered in the air. The door slammed shut behind him as he took in the surrounding silence.
Few people came down this way, and until Riley could control his thirst he didn't want to be around humans too much. He looked around briefly before striding into the warehouse, throwing the door open to shed the fading daylight into the desolate place. It wasn't the nicest place in the world, nor was it exactly what Riley had wanted for his age, but he would have to make due if he had any hopes of eventually not wanting to rip every human apart. He didn't want to be evil and sadistic for his eternal life. The eternal life that he had originally not wanted either. But he had it now, and there was no point in looking back, except to remember her.
Riley shook his head at the thought and silently walked around the rat infested warehouse. His lip turned up into a half-smile. He could be like Louis in the movie. Live off of rats. Riley chuckled lightly. Rats had a very nasty taste, but if he had to, he would. He intended to run around until he found a good forest with plenty of wildlife to feed off of. He had heard talk of the woods of Forks, so he would check there first. He sighed, the place was rather disgusting, but that was expected for a demon walking the earth. Even so he would have to fix it up at least a little bit. And, of course, he would have to find something to keep him semi-busy for the rest of eternity, or until someone decided he was too much of a nuisance to bother with anymore, and killed him. He glanced out the still open door. It was dark, which also meant it would be safe for him to walk among the few humans that were out now. But that brought up the possibility of tearing them apart in the process. He sighed and jumped across the warehouse, snatching up several rats, hoping to keep himself filled enough for a little while. He didn’t want to kill to please her anymore. Right now, Riley was looking out for Riley. He wanted Victoria to pay, but more than ever he wanted to get revenge on the one human who started all this.
The only thing he liked about his new life was the speed he could run at, and the fact that he now had eternity to learn instruments. He already could play guitar and the drums, but now he could spend as long as he wanted to perfect them. And possibly even try to learn some others, but either way, music was a passion he could spend eternity with. Now he didn't have to only listen to it and occasionally play it, he could actually practice it, perfect it, learn it and create it with the eternal life with which he was now damned with. Music would be what filled the empty warehouse. Music and passion from him. That would be enough for him. He would have to wait for a cloudy day to go out into Seattle and purchase instruments and guide books. After checking on his newborns, Riley knew it was foolish idea to leave the newborns alone for more than just a day.
After his meal, he stepped out into the darkening shadows. There was no moon tonight, and if there was one, it was trapped behind dense clouds. Riley left the truck sit for the night and walked the streets in silence. He made sure not to get too close to any humans, he was still unsure if he could survive breathing in the sweet scent of warm blood that lingered in their veins. Most of the shops were closed, or closing. Some were all night deals, but none of the bright neon lights captured Riley's scarlet colored eyes. He sighed, slowly letting the memories of a woman he wanted to forget. The sweet irish accent that floated through the darkness to whisper to him, the unnatural beauty that she had possessed. It was all understood now. All understood, hated, and loved all in the same breath. He wondered briefly if most people thought about their creators as much as he had in the past few months since his creation. He supposed not, not everyone had been in love with the person who changed them. And that initial love had faded, now he was just unsure. Eventually his feet carried him to the park, but he didn't pay much attention to his surroundings, until he caught the scent of another vampire about to catch his/her next meal.
