Jackson sat on a kids swing in the middle of the park, lost in thought jumped as a little kid on the swing next to him swung really high and started talking to him. Jackson smiled at the other kid, wishing he was as carefree as that. Heck, he sometimes wishes he was completely human. Humans made mistakes, vampires on the other hand were supposedly perfection. He knew so differently from what was thought. If he wasn't half freak vampire, he probably still have a mother. But he didn’t. He killed her as soon as he ripped through her belly. He remembered his mother’s screams before she went silent forever. His mother’s terrible scream still filled his ears until this very day.
“Your eyes are weird”, the little kid spoke to Jackson, he smiled weakly saying “ I know. Kind of scary, huh?” The kid nodded, still looking at his eyes, Jackson looked downwards as if to hide them. He started swinging lightly, lifting his blue converse off the sand, his blonde hair moving slightly on his shoulders. He needed a hair cut bad. He hair was growing pass his shoulders now. He tried to keep moving his hands or his head every so often so the child wouldn’t see that something was wrong with Jackson and that he wasn’t completely human.
Looking at his converse, he realized they were a poor imitation of the color of his eyes, and he smiled softly to himself, thinking of his past and the need he felt to talk to the kid, to feel somewhat normal. It was strange, and he had no idea why he did, obviously he wasn’t going to approach the other kid, he knew he would end up saying something that gave the game away; the kid seemed human. And his eyes, they were human too. He never meets another creature like himself.
Pulling himself out of his thoughts was the little kid running across the sand to his mother, who was shouting “ Kyle! Let’s go!” smiling to Jackson when he looked up. Jackson was envious of this Kyle kid has. How blessed was that kid to have a mother to call his name. Jackson knew no adult would ever call his name, not even his own biological father would call for him. Jackson was on his own for life. Jackson has been surviving on his own for three long years. He didn’t need anyone taking care of him. He was a big boy, after all. Plus, Adults told children what to do. Like when to go to bed or what to eat. Jackson was free to do whatever he wanted.
Not paying any attention to the outside world anymore, he probably sat too still, but he was too busy wrapped up in thoughts to pay any notice to anyone that had noticed, and was probably staring to see if he was alive or not. It’s not like anyone cares anyway, Jackson thought to himself.

Brooke had just returned from Italy, having gotten off her plane mere hours ago. She already missed her husband sorely but there was nothing she could do about it, he was gone for god knows how long and she had to live with it. So to get her mind off of it all she had gone for a walk in the park, not that it was doing much for her, a task that would have easily cleared the head of a human did nothing for the complex, overly worked mind of a vampire that could process several things at once and still be kept on track. She walked by the playground and saw children on a swing, but one of them caught her eye. A hybrid child was there, she looked around quickly. No vampires were around so she assumed the kid was there by himself, a small sad fact that often happened with hybrids. But it wasn’t Brooke’s place to barge into; the child wasn’t her responsibility after all nor did it seem like the child really wanted anybody. She sat on a bench and pulled Pride and Prejudice out of her bag and she flipped to where she had left off on last. She read the book slowly but in reality her mind as on the child on the swing set. She heard the mother of the human child call for her son and her eyes darted back up to the hybrid as he sat alone. She watched him sit there silently for a moment; he was sitting still, too still in fact. She looked around the area again, wondering if anyone had noticed him. Then again humans never noticed things anyway. She slipped her book back into her bag and stood up silently. She crossed the playground slowly and took the swing beside the kid and looked down at him. “Now, what is a handsome kid like you doing out here all alone?” She asked him, her smile was friendly. She just hoped the child wouldn’t take it the wrong way, ”I’m Brooke...” she added as she swung on the swing slowly, It had been a while since Brooke had sat on a swing and she saw why, it didn’t seem quite as fun when you were a sixty-four year old vampire. >>Wearing<<((Obviously I mean Sophia.... I am just too lazy to crop the picture.... >.<))

Jackson was forming plans in his head. He thought about sleeping in the park tonight .It was almost empty, with just him and a woman with such a strange scent. He didn’t like how she smells, she didn’t smell like any human he ever smell before. This woman’s scent was type bitter sweet to him. He slightly wrinkles his nose in protested. Uh-oh, she was coming over to him. He grips the chain to the swing, almost breaking it with his super strength. “Now, what is a handsome kid like you doing out here all alone?” she asked, her voice was beautiful. She sounded genius concern about him, which was a first for him. Adults usual left him alone unless they busted him for stealing something. He looks up at her for a good minute, taken a back from the color of her eyes. A golden-yellowish color like the sun…this is the best he could describe the color to her eyes. “I’m not alone.” He replied, “I’m waiting for my dad to pick me up.” He lied. Lying was his second best language. He knew never to tell an adult that he was alone. That was rule number ten in Jackson’s life lessons. “He should be here any minute.” He warned the woman, just in case she tried anything funny. Jackson didn’t trust adults. In this child’s mind, adults were no good and couldn’t be trusted. Not even Santa Claus could be trusted. Jackson has been waiting on his red fire trunk for the last two Christmas. The point was he couldn’t rely or trust adults…
He sat there on the swing, waiting for the woman named Brooke to just go away and leave him alone. He slowly looks away from the woman and look down at his feet. His dirty blonde hair covered half his face. Jackson sighed with irritation at his semi long hair and blow out of the way with his breathe. He needed to find scissors in the worse way. He hated having long hair, it only got tangle and got in his way every time. He side-way glance at the woman and wonder why she was still here. He was still clueless and couldn’t tell if she was a vampire or not. She definitely didn’t smell like fresh blood, which was good. Jackson has been living off human’s food, but every now and then he learned to drink from animals. Whites bunnies rabbits were his favorites since they were so much easier to find and kill. His stomach let out a growl, just thinking about warm bunnies blood. Jackson’s face lit up bright red with embarrassment.

Brooke let out a sigh, she had a feeling the kid was lying to her but didn’t push him. She silently sat there staring at the ground, the child didn’t trust her, nor did he have any reason to so she couldn’t blame him for it. “Well, it was nice meeting you. I hope to run into you again sometime.” She said with a smile as she stood up. She pulled her wallet out of her bag and pulled a twenty out of it, “Since it appears your father isn’t showing up… Here, get yourself some food and maybe a haircut” She passed him the bill before putting her wallet away again. “As for your thirst, we both know how you solve that one.” She then stood up and began to walk away slowly, pulling her book out of her bag as she did so and sitting on the bench once more.
If the hybrid child really did have a father coming to visit him then Brooke wanted to be sure that he made it back with his dad, if he didn’t then she wanted to make sure he was safe here. She kept her eyes on her book and crossed her legs as she read. She set her elbow on her leg and rested her head against her hand. Her eyes were on her book sure, but her mind and all her other senses were on the hybrid whose name she did not know, her sense of hearing was also listening for the sound of another vampire and her sense of smell waited for the smell of another of her type.

He blinked when she gave him a green piece a paper. He has seen humans with this green paper to get nice stuffs. He held up the green paper which the lady called money. Humans needed this in order to get cool stuff didn't make any sense to Jackson. Why did they need green paper to get what they want? Can’t they just take it like he did? Well, he always got in trouble for taking things and decided it was best to take stuff when nobody was looking. He licked the green paper wondering if it had any favor. He made a face of disgust. “Yikes.” Money tasted awful. He didn’t tell the woman thank you or anything. He didn’t know anything about manners. He looks curiously at the woman, then back at the money. That was pretty nice of her. Nobody ever gave him anything, let alone money. He held the green paper a little tighter, suddenly not wanting to give up his green paper so easily.
He thought she was going to leave, but it seems Brooke had other plans. She took out a book and started reading. Ugh! She was making this situation complicated. He got up from the swing and walks over to the sandbox. He took a seat at the edge of the sandbox. He felt this woman…Brooke…was watching him even though her eyes were glued on that stupid book. He sat there for 10 minutes, glancing over his shoulder here and then to see if Brooke was making any move to leave. Ugh! She was ruining his plans to stay here for the night. He narrowed his light blue eyes at Brooke’s direction before exiting the park. He was going to have to sleep in the forest tonight. He didn’t like sleeping in the forest; the raccoons bother him way too much. He clenched the green paper into his small fist and made his way back into the forest.

Brooke let out a small sigh as the child left the park and went into the forest. She closed her book and watched him retreat for a moment before putting the book away. This answered her question about whether or not the boy was alone. She stood up and followed after him, muttering about how she shouldn’t be doing this as she did so. She should be leaving the child alone but something wouldn’t let her do so. She sped up and stopped behind him. “Well… I guess you answered that question for me… And now that I know that answer I am going to ask you a question.” She started, “I have a hotel room I am staying in until I find an apartment here… I am not asking for your trust. I am not asking for you to like me. I am just asking for you to sleep in a bed. I promise that if you want to leave in the morning… After that if you totally hate it I will not ever bother you again…” she said softly, “After I buy you food and a haircut though… Because you are probably in need of both.” She added. “Come on… I’m not that bad.” She said with a smile.
Yes, the vampire did have a hotel room, it was a place to keep her things and she had a copious amount of things, most of those things included shoes though. She hoped the so far nameless hybrid wouldn’t turn it down. She didn’t want him to have to sleep in the forest and that was her only reasoning behind her offer.

He came to halt when Brooke began to follow him out the park. He knew she was up to something! Adults were such sneaky creatures like that. He spun around to face her. She towered over him in those deadly shoes women seem to love to wear. He didn’t have a clue what this woman was talking about. What the hell was a hotel? His ears did perk up when she offered him a bed and haircut. She can forget about him taking a bath. Then she offered him food, something his stomach demanded at the moment. Jackson’s eyes narrowed, weighting out his option. A warm bed, hair cut, and food verse sleeping in the forest with an empty stomach and really long hair. He didn’t let his guard down for nothing. “Okay…but if you try anything funny…” He glared at her, trying to show her he’s not one to mess with. Jackson wasn’t about to turn down a free hot meal. He was starving right now. Besides, Brooke seems sincere and really nice…His eyes soften just a little. He silently followed Brooke to this place called hotel. He wonders what it look like, but he didn’t want to look like an idiot either. “You’re not human…are you?” He asked, after long moment of silence. He couldn’t quite figure out her scent, since he has never been around a vegetarian vampire before. And this was the longest he ever spent time with an adult. He usually kept away from adults since they were nothing but trouble. He follows Brooke like a tourist, his eyes where always all over the place. He kept a distance between them thought, still not completely trusting her.

"I promise not to try anything." Brooke said with a soft smile and she then led him to her hotel room. She couldn't help by smile a little at the distance he kept from her, he wasn't going to trust her so easily she figured that out from the start. She laughed a little at being asked if she was human, "Sweetie... It's been sixty-four years since I had a pulse. I'm a vampire but unlike those red eyed ones I prefer a good old deer neck over a human one..." she told him softly, "Hence why my eyes are a very different color than normal vampires." When they reached her hotel She led him to her room and opened the door. It wasn't something amazing, a bed, a tv, a dresser, a closet, a bathroom, a small sitting table. Her bags sat in the corner of the room, her clothes and shoes and other assorted things were packed in them.
She held the door open for him, "Make yourself comfortable. Decide what you want to eat because as soon as I fix my make up we can go where ever you would like." she told him softly after he walked into the room. She shut the door and walked to her bags, removing a make-up bag from one of them. She then walked into the bathroom and began to fix her makeup. When she had finished she leaned against the bathroom's door frame and watched him, "Where to handsome?" she asked him.

Brooke was over 60-something years old. Golly jeez, this woman was old. This young hybrid boy could barely count pass 20, imagine counting all the way to 60 something? He glances at the room, fighting the urge to touch things. He like how this place had a television, he could watch television forever. His eyes settled on the bed, it was so huge and welcoming! He wanted to jump on it but stop himself when Brooke said she was going to put on her makeup. Make up? What hell was that? Sounded fishy to this three years old. He watch her go into the bathroom and followed her. He watches her out the bathroom door as she applied on powder stuff on her face. “Why did you do that?” He looks curious up at her, opening up a little. Just a little. Curiosity got the best of him. She asked him where he wanted to eat. “Uh the store, where food is at.” He answered. “I just want food.” He frowned. He place his hand over his stomach and felt it rumble underneath his palm. “I want a cheeseburger.” He whined, getting crabby from the lack of food. He didn't have a cheese burger for a few weeks now. He could go for some french fries too. He didn’t eat anything for the whole day. He lost track of time in the park, he was having way to much fun today playing with kids that appear his age. He was really tempted to teleport out of the room and find food himself. Only problem with using his power at the moment is he lacked energy. He needed food in his tummeh!

Brooke smiled slightly as he questioned why she had but make up on. "Because women are weird like that." she told him as she finished her eyeliner. "Let's go to a restaurant and buy you a cheeseburger then, we can even take my car. Trust me, you'll like it." she told him and she picked up her purse again and started to head for the door. Once they had reached her car, yes Brooke had her car sent over from Italy it was like a child to her so she couldn't leave it there, she opened the passenger side door for him and once he had got in she went to the driver's side.
Usually, for a child she would have driven responsibly but this child didn't seem to want to be treated differently than she would treat others, "I am sorry, but you never told me you name..." she said as she pulled out of the parking spot and picked her car up to sixty in a matter of seconds. She quickly reached the small restaurant and her car came to a smooth halt. "Thought you might want food and fast." she said as she got out of the car with her purse in hand. She crossed to the passenger side and opened the door for him again, closing it once he got out and headed inside.

Jackson looks at the hotel room one last time before following Brooke to her car. He didn’t think he come back again after he got his dinner. He probably ditches Brooke after he got his meal. That what he really here for: food. He’s mouth watery just thinking about the cheese burger. He hoped their super size his meal and he was hoping for more than just one burger. He was still a growing boy after all. He looks at Brooke’s car with amazement. He never has been in a car before. For the first time, Jackson truly smiled getting into the car. He allows Brooke to close the door for him. He almost forgotten about his hungry as Brooke started the car to life. The world outside the car’s window went passed him in a blur. He figures out how to roll down the car window and enjoyed how the wind whip through his semi long blond hair. He hated to ambit this out loud to Brooke, but he was actually having fun. He continues to keep his eyes glued to the car window, when Brooke asked him his name. “Kyle.” He lied, which come natural to him. He used the name, he heard the mom call to the kid from earlier today in the park. He didn’t know why he lied about his name. He didn’t like idea of anybody knowing who he truly was. He was born to remain hidden from the world. He was disappointed the car came to halt so soon. He slowly got out of the car and closed the door himself this time. He slammed the car door shut and followed Brooke into the restaurant. He didn’t like entering such a large building and this time kept close to Brooke’s leg. Somehow, Brooke made him feel safe. As soon as Brooke and Jackson or should I say Kyle took a seat the waiter come in. “I want a cheese burger! And some large fries and soda. Do you think this place has chocolate cake? I like that. Oh! And I like two burgers; I can never full up with just one.” He spoke directly towards Brooke, while the waiter wrote everything down, waiting for Brooke’s approve. Jackson’s legs dangle from his seat. He started to play with the pepper and salt shakers as they wait for their orders. “I like how this place smells.” He stood up on his seat, having a hard time seeing anything from over the table. He was lucky the salt and pepper shakers were at the edge of the table or else he would have never reached them. He wanted to be able to see Brooke.

Brooke was a little surprised that he took to being close by her leg when the entered the place but she didn't protest it. When they sat and Kyle ordered his food she couldn't help but smile at the mass amount of food be wanted to intake, but she wasn't going to stop him from ordering what he wanted. Then the waiter turned to her, "Nothing for me, but get him whatever he wants..." she said softly. After the waiter walked away she watched The hybrid play with the salt and pepper shaker and a soft smile on her face.
Soon after the waiter returned with all that had been ordered by the young boy and Brooke waved the guy away, leaving just her and the child. "Enjoy." She said to him as she eyed all of the food, it was all food the French vampire had never tasted before, all things that would taste vile if she ate it now. "Looks good." she said as she rested her elbow on the table and rested her chin on top of her hand.

It didn’t take too long for Jackson to take several huge bites from the biggest burger he ever seen in his entire life. It was the best burger he ever tasted because for started it didn’t come from a trashcan or someone’s leftover. This burger was his and he loved it. He didn’t want to swallow his food before taking a sip from his large cup of soda. Brooke might regret giving him soda later on. He quickly turns his attention back on the burgers. He ate like a savage with no home training. The whole restaurant turns to look at the small child with the monstrous appetite. Jackson didn’t care who was looking at him, or that he was getting grease stains, mustard and ketchup on his already dirty clothes. Nobody taught him manners, so he could use that as an excuse. His other excuse was that he was really really hungry. He finished the meal under fifteen minutes but shoved some French fries within his pockets for later. He licks his entire fingers clean like his empty plates. “Oh, that was—” he lick his thumb, “good.” He said with a grin and petted his full belly. He finally realized Brooke didn’t eat anything, “Why didn’t you eat?” he asked, curiously as Brooke paid for the meal. He stood in his chair and look around the fancy restaurant. He wonder would he ever in a place like this again. He doubted it. The waiter look at Jackson with pure disgust, but Jackson wasn’t paying attention to the disapproving glances of the adults. His eyes were glue to the Brooke.

Brooke watched the boy eat his food in very little time considering how much he had ordered. She saw him slip fries in his pocket as well, but since he lived in the woods he was probably used to saving scraps of whatever he could find. When he did finish she smiled slightly at the mess he made of himself, the child would need new clothes after he ate like that. She gave him a soft smile as she handed the waiter her credit card, "I already ate before I went to the park earlier." Her bright golden eyes were proof of that, "This little outing was just for you. You needed to eat and now you have."
When the waiter came back and handed her the receipt and credit card Brooke noticed him, and the rest of the people close by looking disgusted by the boy. She hadn't noticed them before because she had been too busy watching him to realize it. She let out a small growl and glared at the waiter, who quickly walked away. She then turned her look on anyone who gave Jackson a look of disgust and they all looked away and kept their eyes on their dinner. Then she looked back at the hybrid, her glare changed to a soft smile the instant she looked at him again.
"Let's go. We should buy you some new clothes before we head back to the hotel... Or would you prefer to do something else instead?" She asked him as she grabbed her bag and stood up. She walked with him outside and waited for her answer. She hoped he wouldn't ditch her like she suspected he might. She only wanted to help a little after all. A hair cut, a new shirt, a good nights sleep, and maybe a good breakfast was what she hoped to give to him before he did ditch her. And if by morning he wanted nothing more to do with her she wouldn't stop him, though she hoped he wouldn't do that.

Jackson was impressed with just one look Brooke gave to the other eaters in the restaurant turn their attention away from them. He wishes he could do that! Maybe, he can? How cool would it be to just narrow his eyes and then annoying adults would just leave him alone? Very cool. He was starting to like Brooke. She was okay…for an adult. “Can you teach me to do that?” He asked, following her out the restaurant. “That was fucking coooool.” He looks up to see yet another adult staring at him and Brooke. Okay, time for some practice for Jackson. He narrows his eyes at the random adult standing next to the car. The adult quickly look away and a bright smile spread across Jackson’s round face. “I did it!” He turns around to face Brooke. It was probably her who scared the poor adult away with her deadly glare, but Jackson would never know this. He got in the car forgetting about ditching Brooke for the moment. He was having way too much fun, “I don’t think I need new clothes, what I need is hair cut!” He started chanting ‘hair-cut hair-cut’ for several minutes until he’d figure out how to roll down the car’s window. He sat on the passenger’s side while Brooke drove them back to the hotel or whatever she was taking them. He didn’t really care. He stuck his head out the car’s window and went ‘weeeee’ all the way home. The winds whip his semi long blonde hair back and forth, side to side and just tangling itself. Again, he was disappointed when the car came to a stop. Fortunately for him, his fun with Brooke didn’t stop there. Nope, it was only getting started.
----
He fell asleep to the sound of Brooke’s gentle voice, a soft smile across his features. For once Jackson slept soundly, no nightmares plaguing his mind, no loud animals keeping him awake. Just the sound his heartbeats, the feeling of Brooke’s warm arms around him. He continued to sleep as Brooke set him down on the bed, took his new shoes off and tucked him in, stirring occasionally but never fully waking up. Once Brooke’s arm was over him again he laid close to her, breathing slowly and softly. Jackson never really felt safer or happier than the moments he spent in Brooke’s arms. Jackson’s mind was filled with dreams and wonders about the future as he slept. A future he was so excited for. In his sleep, Jackson quietly whisper, “Mom…” to Brooke. Jackson wake up the next morning, a look of confusion coming across his features. He didn't remember falling asleep here... His head tilted to the side curiously as he looked around then at Brooke who still slept beside him, his arm draped over her.
He quickly pulled away and remembers what happened last night. Brooke gave him that hair cut he so desperately needed and got him new clothes. A lot of new clothes. Jackson did no longer look-like the white boy version of Tarzan no more that for sure. He looks clean and he felt clean too. He smelled like those fancy shampoo bottles. Brooke have given him a bath – which was a miracle on Brooke’s part for her to give convince him to take a bath. Of course, Jackson didn’t get into the bathtub without a fight. Not a bad fight either. It was fun play fighting with a vampire, Jackson didn’t have to limit himself and worry about hurting her. Brooke was one tough cookie to crack. Brooke even orders room service and he ate all the desserts he wanted. It was probably from eating all that sugar that knocked him out last night. He suddenly felt guilty for lying to Brooke about his name. She’s done so much for him and he didn’t understand why. She even put up with his I don’t give a shit attitude. That made Jackson feel even guiltier and a complete ass. He never ever felt guilty over an adult before! He took a deep breath, “Brooke…My name is Jackson.” He look away from her,” Jackson.” He repeated his name softly. Jackson never told anyone his name before.
